Smitty isn't complaining because he wants stats. He knows just as well as anyone that knows diddly dick about the Panthers that they can't win when he's a non-factor against decent teams (we BARELY won against a fucking horrible team).

You're mistaking Smitty for an entirely different kind of player than what he is. He's a rare mix of lone wolf and team captain with a drive and desire to win that's difficult to match. They respect and love him in that locker room, even when he's breaking faces.

He was speaking for the team when he said that, not because he wants to look good on Sportscenter. If teams don't have to worry about him, they'll stack the box and make DWill and JStew non-factors. He knows it, they know it, and so do their opponents.
