Post what you play comfortabily with

I know this sounds like it should go in Tech forum but I honestly want some opinions from people playing the same exact game as me.

It's been a while since an MMO has managed to absorb me into the game like this one has, so I figured if I am going to be putting a lot of time into it I might as well be playing with some good shit.

Yesterday I picked up the Death Adder from Razer, it was really worth dropping the extra 10 bucks for the 3800dpi, they had another older version on sale for $53 but it only had 1800, so it was obvious which to go with.

I'm thinking of getting a new keyboard, I bought that microsoft comfort curve but it is terrible with Aion, I always hit the wrong keys and end up dying at times because of the curve. Need a good, comfortable, non-curving keyboard.

The Plantronics gamescon headset I posted a while back was honestly too damn heavy for me to have on all the time so I returned it and picked up a very lighter USB headset:

I love that the volume control is on the ear piece, I can't tell you how much I fucking hate scrambling around sometimes to look for the little remote in the middle of the cord.

Anyway, this is what I have "upgraded" so far in terms of input devices. What about you guys? Any recommendations would help too.

Gonna go pick up one of those spiffy $100 Logitech keyboards. Other than that, I'm not buying shit. I simply need a new keyboard, heh.

I got a n52te shortly before Aion came out, it feels a lot easier to play with. I also use a plain logitech trackball mouse that feels quite lacking. I wish there was a version of the n52te made for the right hand that had a thumb trackball, that would be awesome.

I've been playing with the same setup since like 2005 pretty much.

Copperhead (I might upgrade sometime after seeing the new mouses around)
Logitech Media keyboard (keyboard isn't that important in my opinion)

I have gone through quite a few headsets though. Last one I had was the logitech gaming one but it crapped out like after 2-3 months so I went with a razer carcharias. Shit is comfortable with the velvet padding.

ditto, I play with about the same setup from 2004 or so, except an upgraded monitor this year, my first LCD lol. I'm perfectly comfortable and like the standard $10 keyboards. Headsets keep breaking, so I just go with old logitech speakers, I mean everyone loves echos on vent right?

I did upgrade my videocard JUST for Aion though, from an 8400 GS to GTX260

N52 speedpad is a godsend once you have your keys set. Used it for just about every MMO I've played.

Hm wonder if that would work with the CTRL and ALT shortcut keys.

yes, you can bind any single key on your keyboard to a key on the device. You can also build key press/release macros to use on a single button.

If I find it at a decent price when I go out shopping later I might pick it up. Thanks for the recommendation.

Microsoft natural keybaord 4000 (natural keyboards onry), Logitech G5 (VERY comfortable, good size, adjustable weight), and a steelsound 4h headset (get them when they're on sale, otherwise probably overpriced; very comfortable to wear for hours on end).

Surprised I'm the first to say Logitech G15 (MK1 blue 4 lyfe). By far the best keyboard I've ever owned.

Just picked this up at BB, I honestly could not put it down once I put my hand over it. One question though, is it normal for the insanely smooth piece you rest your hand on that says BELKIN to pop right off? Almost gave me a heart attack lmao.

Also are programming the keys very simple?

    Ridin ghetto...

I have the same Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard and Logiteck mouse as the guy a couple of posts above. Headset is some Microsoft one I just bought. (I go through headsets every 3 months for some reason...)

I can't set this thing up for macros into chains, like for example trying to go from Ferocious Strike into Rage, it always just does the rest of the chain attacks instead of Rage, how exactly do I make it understand that I want Alt to be held and not pressed into 2 for Rage to activate?

Having used a controller to play FFXI for so many years, I had to do a bit of experimenting to find which keyboard I wanted to use for Aion.
    http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1228/picture003wl.jpg
So I went through my keyboard collection (I'm a keyboard geek, and thats only part of my collection) in search for the right board. I found my favorite boards for typing were too light for long hours of gameplay as my hands would get lazy and rest on the keys and I'd end up with lots of accidental presses. Tried some boards with heavier key switches in them, but those just make too much noise for late night playing. I also didn't like having to reach across my keyboard for skills.

So, I figured I'd give gamepads a try.

I picked up a G13, n52te, and an original n52. As a keyboard geek who is very picky with keyswitches, all of them felt like shit. The n52te had the best feel to it with the n52 being the worst, but the d-pad on the n52te and n52 were pretty hard to use. They required too much force, so you would have to grip the pad with your pinky to keep the pad from sliding off your desk. The joystick on the G13, on the other hand smooth and easy to use, which outweighs the fact that its not as comfortable as the n52te.

In the end, I settled on this setup:

    Connected to my Aion comp:
    Realforce 87U keyboard
    Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2
    G13 gamepad
    G9 mouse
    Audio Technica ATH-AD700 headphones
