Having used a controller to play FFXI for so many years, I had to do a bit of experimenting to find which keyboard I wanted to use for Aion.

So I went through my keyboard collection (I'm a keyboard geek, and thats only part of my collection) in search for the right board. I found my favorite boards for typing were too light for long hours of gameplay as my hands would get lazy and rest on the keys and I'd end up with lots of accidental presses. Tried some boards with heavier key switches in them, but those just make too much noise for late night playing. I also didn't like having to reach across my keyboard for skills.
So, I figured I'd give gamepads a try.

I picked up a G13, n52te, and an original n52. As a keyboard geek who is very picky with keyswitches, all of them felt like shit. The n52te had the best feel to it with the n52 being the worst, but the d-pad on the n52te and n52 were pretty hard to use. They required too much force, so you would have to grip the pad with your pinky to keep the pad from sliding off your desk. The joystick on the G13, on the other hand smooth and easy to use, which outweighs the fact that its not as comfortable as the n52te.
In the end, I settled on this setup:
