Buy or no Buy - Little Big Planet.

Been sitting on this one for a while, the game looks fun but. Looks fun and plays fun are two different things, and with the Game of the Year Edition on the way I was thinking of buying that rather the original copy you could probably get in retails anywhere.

If you can get it for less than $20 or so sure. Its not worth (imo) anything currently beyond that.

If you have someone to play it with, I think $60 price tag is well worth it. My fiancee and I have spent a TON of time playing it. It's a very accessible game for most anyone and just a lot of fun to play together.

That being said, I think this game would be pretty terrible if you didn't have anyone to play with and even being that is fun with someone else the "plot" (if you could call it that) mixed with the ending is just terribad.

I bought the original version when it first came out. It was fun for a little while. The single player mode just has you running through a level and looking for hidden stickers, shapes, skins, etc. while you run to the finish line. The online mode is okay, but it's the same thing, just with more people and user-created levels.

What will have you in front of your TV for hours is the ability to customize your own levels and have your friends/people online try to solve/get through it all. There was honestly nothing I couldn't do when building levels on this game. I'd honestly suggest buying a used version from Gamestop/EBgames, playing it for a few days to see if you like it, and return it before the 7 days are up. If you like it, buy the GOTY edition. That's usually what I do with games.

I like your suggestion here, I think I'll go ahead and try this. Occasionally I do have friends come over and we play shit on my PS3, just have a limit library and had seen this when it was first announced and thought it was a clever unique game to release in this generation. Thanks for everyone's input!

    Seconding this.

Spend loads of time playing this game. I especially enjoyed getting to the finish line and then racing to see who will (fiance and I) slap the other first. When I had a few guests over we would play a few 4-person games and it was just hilarious. Being a cute game helps a lot .

the idea behind LBP is great, and the presentation is really top notch, but IMO the game is nearly ruined by horrible platforming mechanics. Jumping rarely works the way you'd like it to, and a number of sections rely on your ability to change depth automatically to complete them which rarely happens fast enough for this feature not to be a huge annoyance.

That just leaves the whole level design and community aspect, which is fun for a while but you have to realize that if people were that great at making video game levels, they'd work for video game companies. There are some great community levels out there, sure, but there's a lot of junk, and the novelty of retro game throwbacks and homages to other games fades pretty quickly, especially when faced with levels so poorly tested/constructed that completing them becomes impossible.

I think the game is a step in the right direction but it's nowhere near worth the full $60 price tag. Whoever said $20 is spot on, although maybe it's just my taste but for me that's still too much, lol. LBP does have some attractive aspects but it suffers from being vastly overhyped and deeply flawed.

idk, there was very few instances where i had a prob with depth changing.
and as for the jumping, its no smb jumping, but its pretty good and actualy adds a bit of challenge imo.

but yea as other said, this game is amazing if u have someone to play all the way thru.
it like the ulitmate gf game. and also u cant complete alot of side activities w/o another person. most require 2 but it goes up to 4 on the hard ones.

Probably a good rent, I was in the beta which was fun as hell but by the time the game came out I was already bored of it.

As I see it, your either going to only like it for a little while or like it so much you start spending a lot of time on creating levels and whatever.

If you can't get it dirt cheap try renting it and see how you feel.

I enjoyed the game, but its 10x more fun w/ somebody else. You can have random ppl join ur game, but 75%+ don't have mic's so you usually wish you just picked solo play since they go around and aid in getting you killed. I loved the concept behind the first few worlds, but after that I felt that they became less interesting as you progressed to each new world. I stopped being very impressed w/ the worlds (in terms of visuals) after the auto-shop esq world. But then again, I stopped playing about 60% through and then came back to it months later to finish it up lol

coop mode is fun, building contraptions and watching the Game of Life computer is fantastical. (the machine is amazing, lots of moving parts, and they give you the logic gates to play with)

but it gets boring, and I wish i could modify more physics and rules.

but i cannot, and lode runner is more fun, free, and timeless.

I have some really good ones on my Hearted list. Check them out.

What physics and rules do you want to modify exactly? Theres only a hand full of things people havent figure out how to do now and a lot of those things will be included in the water update.
