Anyone playing this title? I've always loved the SimCity games and I'm hoping this one is up to snuff.
I've heard good and bad things, and I won't be able to try the demo myself for a while so... what say you, BG?

Downloading the demo now, even though it's an EU-only program. Not sure if it'll install, but it's worth a try since the game intrigued me.

Bah, didn't read the fine print. Can't play the demo after 30 Sept 2009. Looks like the full game has an online registration component during each play session too as a means of copy-protection.

Oh wow, I guess I won't be trying the demo then >< Oh well. This isn't a game I'm willing to buy before I try. :-/

The magazine (which I read regularly) that had a page ad for this game doesn't make it look like sim city at all, the buildings/land seemed so far...apart.

Usually I'm pretty hesitant about buying PC titles without first giving them a try to assure they don't suck fat donkey cock ... but the IGN review of Cities XL is pretty positive. I might give it a go.

I played the demo while it was still available. It was like a more complex simcity where there were many more considered factors as to whether people would move there or not. Terrain plays a huge issue in the game, and the online component is all about trade so you can become the "bestest" megalopolis.
In short, it's not a terribly fun game. I didn't really like it all that much and I'm a huge simcity fan. (SC2000 to be precise.) It sounds fun in the marketing blurb, but it's not that fun to play.
