    Dead Server Syndrome?

I play on Bahamut and as many of you know, majority of NA and EU population has either abandoned the server or quit the game. Be it for the fact that game itself is dead or couldn't tolerate being on dead server. Not everyone has chosen this route and have remained on Bahamut simply because of the time invested in linkshell they're in or have many friends still playing on Bahamut.

In either case, the economy, the amount of activity and overall population is coming to a grinding halt. I for one, don't want to quit yet, but nor do I want my gaming experience be retarded by SE's incompetency to provide proper balance to server's population and stability of game play.

Considering that Odin and Bahamut (the two servers I know that are still closed) predicament, what is the best course of action to make SE aware of the situation or at least get them to pay attention to overall spread of players across all servers. I realize dead game is dead game, but still, there's plenty can be done and many still want to continue playing for whatever reason and for that reason I think SE should take interested in "closed" servers and servers in general.

So I ask BG populace: What is the best way to get SE's attention? What course of action would you suggest SE should take to deal with this issue? What servers are experiencing similar issues with population/playability?

    Thanks

    Til then,

Deal with the fact you're on a server now that has a population that the rest of us backwater servers have had at its peak over the better part of a decade.

I wouldn't say the game is dead but I have noticed a lot of people quitting. My LS has been very quiet lately and 3/4 of my closest friends have now quit or are on a break.

I just hope the November update get's some proper stuff to lure back my friends for a couple more months. :/

Of my two best ingame friends one is now just playing casually, usually only around so she can craft now (working on bonecrafting 100 etc), other still plays with about the same frequency, but me and him are slowly dwindling our play time too it seems

Heh, guess you're right, but it doesn't change the fact it's an ongoing issue and SE never dealt with it. Even when the profit was good. They have done many things to improve the game in the past that should have been done much sooner. So you never know, they may do it in the future prior to 14's release. I'm curious if there's a way to expedite or give SE a kick in the butt to get the ball rolling.

Did you actually read what he wrote or did you just stop at "dead game"? Ignorance at the least and incompetence at best on your behalf.

A server being devoid of good/intelligent players mainly as a result of January 22nd isn't the same as a server being dead.

Since I decided to quit at the end of the month I've been thinking bout posting something similar on here. Mostly just in regards to how has the closing of Bahamut effected the server. Like you stated, Odin also has lost a good portion of it's EU and NA members. Whether it be for School or work or just server transferring.

For the past couple of weeks I've been keeping tabs of how many players are logged in during times. Weekends and weekdays. It's obvious when it comes to JP prime time, Odin is still very strong. Otherwise, not so much.

Yesterday between 1pm est to 5pm est there was between 933 and 1015 people logged in. 933 is the lowest number I've seen for the whole server. Today it's been hovering around 950-1000 for the same time period.

Japanese time is very different. Weekdays will see anywhere from 1400-2300 people. Weekends can see upwards of 3300 people online. While it the NA/EU times boost up during the weekend as well it's no where near as much as it does for the JP hours.

It's safe to say FFXI is on the decline and SE is just wanting people to hold on until 14 in my opinion. I don't think there's much they can do at this point outside of lowering the monthly fee or thinking of combining servers again.

I will say this, the decline wasn't bad until this school year started and that's when it started to get really noticeable. Maybe kids just finally had enough of it and wanted to focus on that more. Maybe the overall economy has made ppl quit the game and focus more on trying to better themselves. Who knows honestly.

Not intelligent enough to have themselves banned.

The big difference is servers being mildly populated because of people's choices to reside on those servers vs servers being gutted because of closure by SE and forcing players to abandon said server for greener pastures because of dwindling and non-replenishing economy.

880 people on Seraph at the moment, seems that I have 1-2 friends quitting/taking a break every week. All my event linkshells have been suffering because of low attendance. I am hoping for a server merge because I don't wish to pay $75 for all my accounts to transfer, and I don't want to leave any of my friends behind. It's just getting impossible to get things done, find people selling the things you want... but at least merit camps are usually open.

You'd think intelligent players would have known that duping items wasn't going to fly over SEs radar huh...

Seriously, i can fault SE for a laundrylist of shit but that day that shall live in infamy was all due to the "smart" and "good" players flying too close to sun.

    Anyways...

SE needs to roll some servers together and give people the option to free-hop elsewhere if they don't care to be mixed in. The JP prime numbers are usually the highest numbers a server typically reaches in a day whereas most NA prime days are inbetween 1000-1500 people.

Yes, it'd be shitty at first combining servers (just like when char transfers started) but it seems in the best interest of the game to do it since most people (non-endgamers) typically quit when they cant get anything done because the chat volume in wg is so damn low. You know those noobs that we all love to make fun of? If they quit in mass, the game is truely dead so they should be the ones catered to.

It's a double-edged sword but doing nothing just forces more and more people out the door. The game is stagnating and what better way to shake things up than to mash people together and create all new cesspools of drama along with new found friendships of necessity?

Oh, and did I mention how often Garuda loses the Astral Candy? My god. We barely got two LV8s in before it was taken again. Would be nice if they'd merge some smaller servers together.
