Rules aren't going to stop some crazy fuck from shooting you in the back because they haven't taken their meds. I know that's unlikely, but I've been to gun ranges and I've seen some questionable people there. I'd rather not be around those type of people.

Anyways, safety and accidents aren't really a concern. There is a difference between juvenile fucktards and adults. All of my friends are well beyond the point of knowing what is safe and what isn't. If you really think a gun range is that much safer, enjoy paying money to have less fun at your gun range.

Famous last words, etc. I know that it's less likely that someone will shoot me at a gun range than some fluke accident happening with my friends and I. However, both cases are very low (we are responsible people and most of the people who go to ranges are sane.)

There is risk in both cases and that's my point. It's risk assessment vs potential. This assessment occurs constantly in everything we do regardless if guns are involved or not. The risk of dieing in a car accident on the way to the gun range or the remote desert is higher than the risk of me getting shot in either location. I'd rather enjoy my time more thoroughly at the expense of an almost insignificant change in risk.

Also, it's not really up to you to decide who goes to gun ranges. I live in Utah, there are plenty of crazy fucks here that frequent anything gun related.

Don't go on DNR land, I know Wisconsin has laws that say that you may not discharge your gun on DNR land when hunting isn't in season.
