What a clusterfuck of a thread; i'm not even sure who's arguing what.

And i wonder why this thread is about the republicans voting against the bill, and not about KBR employees raping a woman and getting away with it. The latter may be inflamatory, but no more than this thread. And it would have been more relevant.

Plus as I stated earlier my opinion on one event shaping public policy, hello patriot act?
I quoted the entirety of the amendment and specifically stated that you could vote for the amendment without voting for the encompassing bill. Do you care to point out the parts of the amendment that are too broad?

any tort related to or arising out of sexual assault or harassment, including assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, or negligent hiring, supervision, or retention
    Also,

"The constitution gives everybody the right to due process of law," Franken said. "And today, defense contractors are using fine print in their contracts do deny women like Jamie Leigh Jones their day in court… The victims of rape and discrimination deserve their day in court [and] Congress plainly has the constitutional power to make that happen."
Jones told ABCNews.com that an examination by Army doctors showed she had been raped "both vaginally and anally," but that the rape kit disappeared after it was handed over to KBR security officers.
Over two years later, the Justice Department has brought no criminal charges in the matter. In fact, ABC News could not confirm any federal agency was investigating the case.

Legal experts say Jones' alleged assailants will likely never face a judge and jury, due to an enormous loophole that has effectively left contractors in Iraq beyond the reach of United States law.
Fuck off. I'm better at this than you are.

I agree with Swampdonkey entirely. She is not being denied "due process" because the word literally means the legal process due to you under our legal system. She is only being denied the right to sue in a civil proceeding which she herself agreed to in a legal contract.

Voting to void clauses of employment contracts is a dangerous legal precedent to set whether you are on the left or the right of the political spectrum.

The OP reminds me of half the commentators on MSNBC.

Baelorn's 'I'm better than you at this" was towards me which he included two items I'd already stated to say I was wrong and parroting Franken who seems to think due process is in the constitution for civil suits. So, no he isn't.

Was I the only one who actually expected more nay votes and calls of the bill being a "political attack"?

But then I guess this thread would coincide pretty well with my expectations.

Not to play devil's advocate, conservies are crazies, and Im glad PA isn't to be found on that list, but didnt we just have an issue a month or two ago with a girl claiming gang rape at a University and recanting her story 2-3 days later after all the men were arrested and harassed and interrogated?
Fair enough. But at the same time, these independent contractors have been involved in all sorts of shady behavior. I mean, they are by definition.

DynCorp (employees buying child prostitutes in Eastern Europe) and recently Blackwater/Xe doing the same w/ Iraqi women/minors. Oh and the civilian killings.

If we are to be skeptics it goes both ways. And if we judge both sides, I'd say there is more reason to doubt that the contractor is innocent.

Even if they were getting 'framed'. I don't give a shit. D:

frodo posting outside a thread of his own creation would violate his commitment to one-note religious trolling; You can't expect a member of as many online communities such as him to keep up with topical posting can you?

One could dream; especially when you're particularly bored and desiring amusement.

I can shoot you down with one name chief - Jessica Lynch. I'll even give you a second for good measure - Pat Tillman. Both authentic victims... used by lying Republicans trying to win votes.

Here's a protip - when trying to make a debate point against the other side, make sure you're not being a goddamn hypocrite.

I started replacing everyone's first three letters with 'gay' to see what I got, and the best I found was 'gayrection'. But 'gaynox' does have a bit of a ring to it.

So, a bunch of men took turns forcefully penetrating a woman, and she can't sue. She should take advantage of the contract, go back to work with a rusty pipe, and engage in activities for which the men won't be able to sue, either.

She would be financially secure, but most likely in prison.
