That's quite an accusation. Tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice are pretty serious crimes, especially when they are tied to a corporation. I'm sure if this was even remotely true (but, coincidentally, it's not because you just imagined it) there would be a huge scandal followed by three months of "Put Cheney in prison!".

I don't think anyone in this thread was saying there was something wrong with the amendment, just that everyone who was ticked off was acting like she had no recourse against the rape which is false.

Edit: I would have to see the contract, but I think she can still sue even with that arbitration agreement. And it looks like a court said she could.

How about at the point where we make it illegal for a corporation to take the legal responsibility for "punishing" the individual?

I think everyone missed the entire point of the amendment and her case. Whether she was or was not raped is not even the problem. The problem is that she was not able to bring her case to a public court to be heard by a jury of her peers because her contract stipulated that matters had to be settled by arbitration. The entire point of the amendment is to give alleged victims the ability to have their day in court, there should be no intelligent person who would deny anyone their day in court. If our senators want to start denying people their day in court we have more serious problems. And btw I'm from the reddest state in the nation, Mississippi.

The government is well within its rights to rewrite the contracts they give out because they're government contracts. This thread is a clusterfuck.
