I'm a spaz, posted this in the footbal forum first.

The Pac 10 is an incredible mess right now. Every team except one is between 2-1 and 1-2. Oregon State loses Wednesday at home to Seattle by 51, then comes back and beats Oregon in Eugene. The same Oregon team who was the last undefeated team in conference standings.

The one Pac-10 team that's not 2-1, 2-2, or 1-2? Washington, who is 1-3, and the only ranked team in the Pac 10 (sure to change this week). There's at least some chance that USC will win the Pac 10 tourney and the Pac 10 will get zero bids in the NCAA tournament... more than one at this point seems unlikely.

Coaches' Poll just came out; zero Pac-10 teams even receiving votes.

I just had a discussion today about the Pac 10 only getting the auto-bid in. I said that I think they get at least 2 unless there ends up being huge parity and everyone ends up going .500 in conference. I figure someone will end up winning 12 or so conference games that doesn't win the conf. tourney and gets an at-large as a 11 or 12 seed.

I'm trying to think if the ACC, SEC, Big XII (or Big 8 before it), Big Ten, Pac 10 or, Big East has ever only gotten 1 team in since the field expanded to 64(5).

The SEC hasn't been worth a damn in 5 or more years. I remember when Kentucky had Pitino, Arkansas had Richardson, Florida had Kruger, hell, even Miss State had some good squads.

LSU is worth a damn every 2 years or so, with the Big Baby/Tyrus Thomas squad, and last year we would have made more noise but we ran into UNC in the second round. Imagine if Anthony Randolph had stayed last year...

LSU played UNC closer than anyone else in the entire tournament last year.

I watched it with a bunch of friends. Was a great game, think it was tied at the half. 2nd half Ellington was on fire and Lawson played pretty damn close to a perfect game. We got kind of shafted with an 8 seed >.>. This year we are back to mediocre.

It was more a "Welcome to something that matters unlike C-USA" more than "hey, SEC Basketball is awesome".

Speaking of which, Tennessee upsets Kansas. UGA almost dumps Kentucky. Florida (eww) beat Michigan State. SEC might just be on the up and up as a conference this year. We might just field THREE tournament teams above our usual TWO!

I, as has been discussed before, "we" both programs. Family is MSU alum, I go to UGA, etc etc.

UGA is just more exciting right now because in its first year under a new coach, we've already beat Illinois and rival Ga Tech. Had a learnable loss but a good game against Mizzou, and was under a minute from beating #3 Kentucky on the road. Im not trying to ride either teams "bandwagon" or favor one over the other just because they're doing well. It's just MSU is being very quiet right now, and UGA is making some ripples.

Hell, the way we're (UGA) playing this year we might make the NIT...and id watch the hell out of that for as long as UGA was in it.

Purdue is suddenly not as daunting as I had feared they would be. Means MSU can prolly still lose to Purdue once and be ok conference title wise.
