I've been able to unistall the 1.1 framework, but I can't get rid of the plugin > windows presentation foundation. It is disabled as per the pop up but any idea where i can go to get rid of it?

Microsoft really needs to stop pushing their ASP.NET/Windows server bullshit. GET OVER IT, most of the internet runs on linux and you're not going to change that by sneaking in updates and crapping all over W3C standards (see: IE compatibility vs. every other browser). As a professional web developer, I get pretty sick of having to write tons of extra code just to cater for one browser that people use because they're ignorant.

ps. No one gives a flying fuck about your "Silverlight" because everyone uses Flash or Java. I have never seen Silverlight used on a non-Microsoft website.

Before I get a bunch of remarks about how I must be a Linux geek just hating on Windows because it's popular... Actually, no. I'm currently running Windows7 because I like to play PC games and enjoy the compatibility I get from using a Windows OS. I have also used C#.NET to write lots of applications but I would never use it for a website because that's just plain retarded. However, just because they make a successful OS, doesn't give them the right to screw up the internet by attempting to proprietorise everything.

I just did the update and Firefox gave me the message saying the .NET Framework or w/e was dangerous and requested to restart. Does that means I'm set now?

Didn't do any updates, Firefox asked me to restart FF to fully disable that stuff...

I did. Then I did a check for FF updates and also Windows updates, nothing to patch so far.

This. Firefox brought up a window saying "The plug-in is being disabled because it's a security threat, please restart Firefox to fully disable it" (para-phrased). So hopefully there isn't too much to worry about, 'cos this is really shitty of MS to do.

I 'uninstalled' the plugins manually and today got the block message from firefox, so the uninstall function won't necessarily work :s (unless I only disabled and it read disabled as 'still there so we're gonna block it anyway')

Got the notice and hand uninstalled that garbage as soon as I could. (I only had the plugin, not the extension)

MS, you slimy rat. Don't install crap like that on mah Firefox without permission.

Also if people want to know how to get rid of it completely (you should be fine with it disabled but I'm in the "if it's slimy it has to go" camp) check here. Make sure you delete EVERYTHING in that folder including NPWPF.dll, and it should be gone.

So I went to that site of yours and after I deleted the .NET stuff from the folder, it's bringing me to a website that might void my warranty? Can I just stop at this point or do I have to continue since I deleted the .NET stuff from the Firefox folder?
