Digging around on IMDB about that Deadgirl movie led me to a movie about a live cat being eaten by rats, and then the rats being set on fire....and some other insane snuff stuff.

Anyone seen this stuff?

Would also suggest Ringu like some others.

Only thing is if you want to watch The Ring, watch Ringu first. The american version changed a lot (don't they always), but even changed things that didn't make a whole lot of sense. Added to that Ringu is a trilogy so you can enjoy watching the other two afterwards.

When I say "slasher" films, this is what I mean. Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Those are fantastic movies. The 80's was the peak of horror film making.

A fantastic non-slasher film not mentioned here is "The Descent". Fucked up for two reasons...it takes place in an enclosed cave, so it strikes a chord at a core phobia, and it's just psychologically fucked up. A must-watch. Probably one of the better horror flicks of this decade.

Hellraiser 1 and 2 are good. As Were the first 3 NoES movies. Halloween was bad after the first 2.

Also yeah The Descent fucked my shit up lol. Great movie scary as a horny obese woman that has you tied to a bed.

I know you said no slashers but my buddy just watched one called "Behind the Mask" on netflix streaming this weekend and said it was pretty awesome compared to most, its about a wanna be killer who lets a camera crew follow him as he tracks people he wants to kill and how he wants to be like freddy/jason etc here's the trailer, looks pretty cool and i hate all horror/slasher/zombie movies besides like shawn of the dead and zombieland.

Behind the Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon is one of my fave horror flicks ever, its a slasher movie.

Behind the Mask is one of the few exceptions to the shitty slasher flick rule. It had a great plot to start with. The Descent kind of bothered me because it was based on the book and it was absolutely nothing like it. Ok, here's a few more for your Halloween viewing.

Suspiria - Fantastic movie. It's an older one, but the creative use of barbed wire in a girl's dance school is just kind of freaky.

A Tale of Two Sisters - A fairly decent Korean flick. It was screened here in the states, so a copy shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Cannibal Holocaust - This movie is fucked up. It created so much controversy when it came out because people genuinely thought it was a snuff film(it wasn't btw.)

Creepshow - If you haven't seen this, you should.

Silent Night, Deadly Night - I loved this movie when I was little. It still elicits a few chuckles from me everytime I see it.

House - It's not Lupus. It's an evil haunted house.

The Gate - Kind of cheesy, but an interesting "horror" movie with an extremely young Stephen Dorff. Sadly this would go on to be the best movie he's ever been in.

The Serpent and the Rainbow - Has the most painful scene in any movie in the history of man. Aside from that, a damn good voodoo flick.

They Live - John Carpenter movie about aliens living incognito throughout the world. Not really a horror movie, but still should not be missed.

Vampire's Kiss - Fantastic movie chronicling a man's descent into complete and total insanity as he believes he is becoming a vampire.

Haunted - A decent ghost story starring Aidan Quinn and a young Kate Beckinsale. And yes, she does get naked in it. A lot.

Ichi the Killer - Not really a horror movie by the normal definition. Exceptionally violent and over the top.

Drag Me to Hell - Funny horror movie directed by Sam Raimi. A thoroughly enjoyable if not predictable movie.

Wrong Turn - Eliza omgiwanttobangher Dushku running around in a tank top while fighting West Virginia inbred cannibals. And it's actually a pretty good movie, as is the sequel with Henry Rollins.

Dead and Breakfast - A fantastic zomedy.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose - I really liked this movie based on a true story. If you haven't seen it, it's shown in flashback sequences.

Hide and Seek - Robert De Niro in a psychological thriller where the plot keeps you guessing for the majority of the movie.

White Noise: The Light - Despite being a direct to dvd sequel, this movie was very well done. It has Nathan Fillion(Malcolm Reynolds for Firefly/Serenity) and Katee Sackhoff(Starbuck) starring in it. This movie was a pleasant surprise.

Wolf Creek - Good slasher flick that was based on the backpacker murders in Australia.

Dead Man's Shoes - Fantastic indy slasher film that actually has a plot.

Black Sheep - Weresheep!!!!! Absolutely hilarious "horror" movie.

Slither - Another great zomedy. Though the zombies aren't technically zombies.

30 Days of Night - I didn't have high expectations when I saw this movie. But I loved it from start to finish. Plus I would absolutely destroy Melissa George.

Dead Silence - A hokey, campy horror movie that at least had an original killer in it. It was an enjoyable waste of ninety minutes. Not the greatest movie in the world but it was at least moderately entertaining.

The Mist - Pretty decent adaptation of the Stephen King story. Marcia Gay Harden steals the movie as a religious zealot.

My Name is Bruce - A highly fictionalized version of Bruce Campbell is sent to a backwater town to fight an ancient chinese warrior. Hilarious movie.

Primeval - I'm not a big fan of the whole using animals as monsters but for some reason I really liked this movie. It centers on the crocodile Gustave in Burundi and a news crew's attempts to capture him. Coincidentally in real life estimates say that Gustave is responsible for up to 300 deaths.

Sublime - Fantastic psychological thriller starring the guy from the tv show Ed. Considering the vast majority takes place within a hospital bed, it's surprising how good a flick it is.

Teeth - Vagina Dentata!

The Alphabet Killer - A police thriller with Eliza Dushku in it who is searching for the Alphabet Killer. Based on the true killings. And the lovely miss Eliza gets topless.

Let the Right One In - Fantastic movie about a small boy befriending a young vampire.

That's all I can think at the moment.

There was this movie, it had "Autumn Underground". Was about this guy and his girlfriend who go around killing people with reckless abandon in their neighborhood and in one scene a guy rapes a dead six year old girl in a bathtub filled with shit and maggots.

Pretty fucked up, not really horror, but fucked up.

actors are willing to do pretty much anything to try and make it into showbiz they'll do these kind of movies in hopes of being discovered. Reason why half the porn industry consists of young girls who went to LA to become actresses. They end up doing porn because they couldn't get any other kind of screen work.
