I don't identify with any religious group, nor am I particularly religious and/or spiritual. I like to believe that I, myself, am great and I should live as morally and ethically as possible to live up to that belief. That being said, I happen to think that the Bible is contains quite a good moral code and that if someone wants to follow it they are more than welcome to it. It's when people twist and mutate the words to their own ends that I have problems. I have no problems with Christians, except when they beocme preachy and push their beliefs upon me or others who do not welcome it. I treat all other religions exactly the same. No problem with you, but please, keep it to yourself. Liberal minded people can sometimes forget that being liberal minded means being tolerant and liberal with other people's views and opinions. We need to respect the beliefs of Christians as much as we need to respect the beliefs of other religions. I think that the respect can only end when someone is causing torture or death of another person. Of course, all this tends to be pretty meaningless to most of humanity but one can only do the best one is able to do.
All that philosophical craziness aside, the Conservapedia project is much, much more than the Bible re-write. This site is like Encyclopedia Dramatica with proper grammar.
Conservapedia
Some Wikipedia information about it: Conservapedia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Check it out, quite eye-opening.
The page on Atheism is worth a chuckle or two:
Atheism - Conservapedia
And this one is definitely gold:

What a load of bollocks.
you're a bollock
If you want to talk about the Gospels, you can have your opinion on the authors being "anonymous" as much as we can believe they were the actual authors. There is no evidence for or against either opinions. My opinion is this:
Mark was the only original Apostle to have wrote about Jesus' life. Matthew and Luke both used Mark as a source for their information (all three authors share some parallel ideas). Matthew supposedly worked alongside Peter as well (another Apostle). *long breath* Then there's also some source most theologists call "Q" that Matthew and Luke used. I'm not the hottest theologian, but the main point to notice is the correlation with the three authors.
If your opinion that "it was written by people that never knew Christ with their own interpretations of the very little he actually said while adding volumes of things he never said or even talked about" is truly your opinion, then I really don't know what to think. I guess we should just disregard every biography ever made (since you know, most authors that make biographies never actually lived with their subjects or actually knew them). The last part I'm not going to bite on, however. I'd almost consider this trolling but it's hard to tell.
The rules of Christianity are in the Torah. The Bible was better before Revelations came out. There was no "damnation" or "apocalypse" before then. Back then people lived by the Bible just to be accepted by God, not to escape an eternity in Hell. That is where the "control" would come in I suppose.
Your last paragraph is absolute truth, however.
Also:
You are right. I wanted to say Hebrew but I wasn't sure if it was a mix of Aramaic and Hebrew or not.Actually, the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew. The Oral Law of Jewish tradition (the Talmud) was written in Aramaic since it was the vernacular at the time, but the Tanakh is in the "holy" language, Hebrew.
Erm, no
The Pain -- When Will It End?
Tim Kreider is the artist, it ran in the Baltimore City Paper.
damn he really has the same style as one of the artists on mad magazine, cant be asked to look pull one out of the store room now.
I've always heard it described as the style of The New Yorker, with the content of Hunter S. Thompson.
I wish I had heard that description before, although I'm glad I didn't because with a review as ballsy as that, you pretty much gotta read it.
On 2nd thought, that's far too awesome a description
Because it's hard to live up to Hunter. Only a single fictional character has ever managed it (one Spider Jerusalem).
Anyways, we are digressing.
I've just been following the discussion until now, but this stopped me dead in my tracks...

?!
You actually made me LOL, might have woken the neighbors.
You know, this pretty much sums up America in a nutshell.Christian hijacked the Republican platform and now the result is that both partners are getting fucked up.
I've spent the morning reading Conservapedia. This is a scary, scary site. People might stumble upon it and not realise it was written by lunatics. Is anyone doing anything about these nutbars?
