Whether or not they are putting a wacked out account on that site or not is besides the point. Altering something that is nothing more than fiction in its current form is laughable, unless you are one of the people who actually belives that drinking the shitty wine at church is drinking the blood of Christ. No offense to anyone who actually believes that stuff, cuz that is their opinion, but the Internet is the LAST place you should go for your religious needs......lol.

Poor Buddy, he getting more bad press....

I think it was stated earlier, about the Bible being more of a philosophical piece of literature. Although most philosophical writings are fictional, they hold deep meanings for those that can read and understand them. It's like re-writing Plato's Republic because you don't agree with his idealism, but it's ok if it's fiction (that was just the first thing to come to mind, but you see the idea I'm trying to portray).

Also, many (not sure if all) Protestants don't believe in transfiguration (blood to wine, bread to body). They see it more symbolical, the Catholics use transfiguration in all of their sermons.

@kuro Thanks for posting that comic, it is fantastic and one of the things that drives me nuts about many of the "Christians" that somehow have completely forgotten what Jesus actually said in the Bible.

I've said it many times before, Christianity's worst enemies recently have been some of its own followers and it gets highly annoying to see BS like this pop up. Thanks for setting us back yet again folks.

Funny thing though that came to me while writing this: forget the whole obvious fact that Jesus very much preached about social justice and helping the less fortunate out, but consider the concept of Heaven. Heaven of course is the end goal and every Christian is looking for that right? Well what is Heaven? Isn't a major accepted definition/idea is definitely a place of eternal paradise in which there is no war, all people are equal as children of God, a land of no suffering because no one will ever have any needs unfulfilled because God provides them all?

Now replace God with government and you have a socialist utopia. I'd love to see Conservadumbasses "re-translate" that idea.

Yeah, I totally understand what you are saying, but the fact that they are still doing this on a website is funny to me, plus I wanted to break out the Buddy Christ pic because its just too damn funny.

Except these kind of people think the only ones getting into heaven are exactly like them already.

Our Chapel actually used Buddy Christ for one of its services. It was hilarious. I'm glad most of the people have a sense of humor. But yea, one guy mentioned how nauseated he got when someone wanted to rewrite the Bible, and that should be pretty much anyone's response (unless you adamantly HATE the Bible or have some unreasoned disgust for it). If this happened with the Quran, or The Odyssey, or something like that, I'd be sickened as well.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Well, I'm sure the parishoners of the First Church of Beowulf had reason to complain when it was released too.

That has nothing to do with the argument Neoscrilla was stating. But believe it or not there is a lot of debate that goes on surrounding Beowulf, it's just mostly around literary people vs. mass internet goers.

What, specifically, is debated about Beowulf? You've piqued my curiosity.

A lot has to do with the time period and the fact the guy who wrote down Beowulf initially did it after Christianity had hit, and put a lot of Christian values into the story though the original version should have predated Christianity in that area. (i.e. Grendel is spawned from Cain) There is a lot of issues on which parts the scribe added, and which would be the original part to the story.

Well, I liked the parts with Angelina Jolie, the virtual slut. So I'm glad the author added those parts.

Not going to lie that movie was utter crap, but did an amazing job trolling people into thinking it was live action.

At least it was more authentic than this one though:

I turned that movie off after 5 minutes, and this was while watching it for free on the net and getting paid at work

pretty optimal viewing parameters for a sub-par movie but even still I couldn't do it

I saw that movie! Watched the whole thing. My husband and I watched it in a hotel in Kyoto, Japan. Was only English thing on we'd not already seen. It was bad.

Currently, there is an ongoing debate on whether atheism was a causal factor for Friedrich Nietzsche's insanity or whether it was caused purely through disease.
