Just saw this commercial on [Adult Swim] already. Kinda funny since they play so many Mac vs. PC commercials, and this is anti-Mac/iPhonecrap. Oh well, all about the Benjamins~

Verizon Motorola Droid Release Date Is November 6. Let The Droid Countdown Begin! – SoftSailor
11/6 Release Date. $199 after $100 mail in rebate and new 2 year contract. Cheaper than I expected. I plan on getting one as my contact expired last month and have been waiting for this announcement before renewing.
I have the G1 and I really enjoy it. Well, I enjoy the OS and its capabilities. The phone itself is kind of clunky and the processor seems kind of slow. I know I can get it to choke up easily.
The Android OS is amazing. <3
Idk, this or an Iphone. Someone halp.
My question from the first post I made still boggles me, do you guys think verizon customers will need to have a data plan? I really dont want to pay an extra 30 a month![]()
all service providers require data plans for data phones now.
I have a voyager and still don't need one
I'm torn here too...that new Windows phone for Verizon seemed pretty sexy when I got a chance to play with it. But I do favor the slide out keyboard offered from the Droid.
LoL @ considering CNET a reputable source.
Edit: These are the same folks who think the X Series Walkman is "perfect for audiophiles because it has a touch screen".
LOL

Bumping this because I have a question.
With Verizon's "New Every 2" deal you get another $50 off if you're eligible. So factor in the $100 rebate and the phone costs $149 assuming you get a 2 year plan. Oh and if you buy it online, all the rebates are applied instantly and you get free overnight shipping. I can't see how that isn't win. I'm gonna get it because I'm a baller like that.
But the data plans are confusing me. I have a crappy $60 a month family plan with Verizon now for my wife and me, since we never use our standard cell phones since work provides us both with email gizmos (she has a BlackBerry, I have a pathetic Samsung Saga). Carrying a personal phone and a work phone sucks, and I'd rather consolidate to one device even if I have to pay for it.
The Droid requires an upgrade to a data plan, and there are two available. A $29.99 one that comes with "unlimited web and email" and a more expensive $49.99 one that comes with "unlimited data." The woman on the phone was incredibly friendly and helpful, but not the most techy when it came down to explaining the difference. Does anyone know? She suggested the cheaper one will work with web-based email, but I'd need the $49.99 one to configure it to receive work email (through Outlook). That sounds plausible but is that the only difference?
In all likelihood I'll just spring for the extra $15 a month, but I was just wondering.
Heard from a few people who have tried it and they said the browser is fast, cameras good etc. The touch screen is just basically like a iphone and the keyboard is a bit flimsy and useless.
Think I'm going to stick with my Storm 2, cameras crappier, browsers slower but it looks better and I can always download a third party web browser.
Thanks Stee.
btw, here's a couple of reviews from prominent places. both gave it high marks.

Not exactly an accurate breakdown. The $30/month is for unlimited data for personal accounts, the other option ($45 actually) is for unlimited data for business accounts. Since your plan is personal and not through your place of employment all you need is the $30/month plan increase.
Got it. Love it. Even though I haven't figured out how to use much of it yet.
