What will we do when the people who smoke pot need a stronger fix? Will we legalize crack next?

I wonder if I'll be able to convince myself to try it if it does get legalized (which I think it should). I am living proof that D.A.R.E. works on some kids when growing up. XD
Same argument can apply to alcohol as well, and it doesn't really hold up. I tried harder things when I was younger but I have no interest in seeking out harder drugs now or even drinking. There are a lot of slippery slopes in life, but as long as I can buy strong ass liquor I should be able to buy some dank at CVS.
Oh come on, you don't think there is a certain type of personality that is drawn to weed? Maybe the kind of addictive personality that can't withstand the pressure to try other drugs?
I don't buy the alcohol example. It's too widely available and socially acceptable to work the same way. My mother is a drunk, and has never touched a harder drug in her life.
The problem with legalizing pot overnight is that people would go nuts that first night. There would also need to be laws in place about use, and where it's confined to. My only concern is outside, public usage as pot smoke makes me break out in hives and have all the typical allergy problems.
I don't think it has anything to do with weed though. I think that's bullshit and if you can't apply it to alcohol then you can't apply it to weed. I also think you're trolling me right nowAnd if we legalized it, wouldn't it be equally as widely available and socially acceptable.
Prison systems actually lose money on incarcerating people for marijuana use. It costs a fuck ton of money to keep someone in prison, there are tons of different expenses. From a lawyer's point of view, sure, they might lose a little money, but very, very few lawyers do strictly marijuana cases. They will find a way to make their money. Prisons will be slightly less overcrowded, and the states/county's will spend less money incarcerating people in there for having some pot.
I bet they started with sugars as a kid, some chocolate here some candy there. It's all the same, really.
Then I bet they went to McDonald's and ordered a coke with their cheeseburger and side of obese child syndrome. All that caffeine. It started with sugar, but now they're doing the hard shit.
Later, a small coke from McDonald's wasn't enough. They needed coffee. They can't even function without it. What will they do? Getting up for school in the morning. High school sure is hard. They needed to focus and coffee met their caffeine needs.
In highschool, the cool kids smoked cigarettes. They wanted to be cool, right? Cigarettes came next. It started with one just to fit in, but it slowly escalated to a full blown addiction. They often indulge themselves in their multiple addictions at the same time. Eating a doughnut before work, drinking their coffee and smoking a cigarette while reading the morning paper. It's all the same, right?
Then comes alcohol. It's this great thing that makes all the women look nice, you a baller, and makes you feel warm. How wonderful! There are mass social events that focus around this drug, do you want to have fun? Of course you do.
Then comes pot. It's like alcohol in the sense it makes you feel good, there are large social groups that revolve around it, but there is no crummy feeling in the morning. Everything is funny to you. You don't become belligerent, you don't start fights. You just chill
What comes next? You tell me. It's a slippery slope. And to think it all started with candy. The only answer is to outlaw everything.
Marijuana is a gateway drug...
Spoiler: show
Well another problem with legalizing pot is the problem of smoking and driving. You'd be surprised how strong groups like MADD are when it comes to any sort of intoxicating substance that can impair driving - its rather scary (and ridiculous).
Im in complete favor of legalizing it as I don't see it being harmful to ANYONE who uses it with some form of discretion. I've been a toker for about 6 years now. Theres been a strong movement over the years here in Canada to legalize pot but every time the issue comes up, the issue of it being exported to the US comes up and the whole discussion falls apart- its rather sad.
Texas needs to legalize it so I can get treatment for my ADD
