Also, pot should fall subject to the same laws as alcohol in terms of driving, etc... I know there are people who perform a lot better stoned, but I've seen some people that were beyond nasty stoned.

Well at least everyone drives about 10 miles an hour slower stoned. I'd rather have a road full of stoners than a road full of drunks any day.

I'd rather have a road full of people driving. Then again, I rather have a road full of people stoned than texting or their hair or what ever women do.

When all these drugs were legal society seemed to get along just fine.

Prisons will be slightly less overcrowded, and the states/county's will spend less money incarcerating people in there for having some pot.
As opposed to the prison system making money when a murderer or rapist gets incarcerated?
Prisons get gov't money on how many heads they have jailed. Then they use prisoners to run telemarketing sales and what-not, so more prisoners will make them more money. But you are right. Less would be spent overall on not keeping ppl incarcerated for pot violations.

Here's a link to someone explaining the lawyer side better than I could.

I'm also a huge pothead too. I don't smoke as much as i used to , but i still take a couple of hits every night. So there really is nothing I would like better than going to the local pot-bar and picking up some joints. I'm just trying to show the other side that most ppl forget about. I just think certain agencies have to much vested in it and legalizing would affect to many livelihoods. I just don't see it happening.

Later, a small coke from McDonald's wasn't enough. They needed coffee. They can't even function without it. What will they do? Getting up for school in the morning. High school sure is hard. They needed to focus and coffee met their caffeine needs.

In highschool, the cool kids smoked cigarettes. They wanted to be cool, right? Cigarettes came next. It started with one just to fit in, but it slowly escalated to a full blown addiction. They often indulge themselves in their multiple addictions at the same time. Eating a doughnut before work, drinking their coffee and smoking a cigarette while reading the morning paper. It's all the same, right?

Then comes alcohol. It's this great thing that makes all the women look nice, you a baller, and makes you feel warm. How wonderful! There are mass social events that focus around this drug, do you want to have fun? Of course you do.

Then comes pot. It's like alcohol in the sense it makes you feel good, there are large social groups that revolve around it, but there is no crummy feeling in the morning. Everything is funny to you. You don't become belligerent, you don't start fights. You just chill

What comes next? You tell me. It's a slippery slope. And to think it all started with candy. The only answer is to outlaw everything.
    Ahhahaha. =] Well said.

You could probably throw in energy drinks after coffee for an afternoon pick-me-up or for a study session. Then follow with alcohol. Also, post-alcohol drug users tend to split into pill-poppers who will like narcotics starting with vicodin and ending up doing morphine and heroin, then you have your amphetamine users who probably started with adderall and then moved on to meth, then you have your party drug users who probably started with cocaine and moved on to ecstasy and ghb, then you have your pot users who might move on to shrooms and acid.

Whenever I hear about people in the states getting incarcerated in the year 2009 for ridiculously trivial shit like posession of personal use quantities of weed, it makes me wonder why all of you morons haven't emigrated yet.

See, we agree on some things, like this.

I've smoked pot off and on for years, from 13~18, 21~23, and only a joint or two in the 6 years from 23 to the present.

Done acid once, with my mom, actually.

I sat around watching the walls dance and thinking about the structure of spacetime.

Well, no, I almost got hurt, cause I was sitting in a tree in the front yard waiting for it to kick in.

Listening to cicada's thrumming around me, looking up through the maple leaves at the stars...

Then the perspective switched, the stars were up close, and the leaves were the background.

I realize at this point that I'm hanging by my knees and one hand, in midair, as I went backwards and almost fell out of the tree, only to be saved my monkey-ninja instincts.

Grabbed the branch my knees were on, flipped over backwards and landed on my feet, and briefly channeling Keanu, I let out a "whoa", then went inside to think about spacetime.

Anyway, pot isn't as bad as alchohol, no reason to have one legal and not the other.

I was in a friends basement looking at his poster of the bare assed chicks with Pink Floyd album body paint designs on them, on shrooms. I must've been staring fixedly at it for like 10 minutes watching fractal patterns dance off into infinity until someone commented on how much I must like the girls. I was all, "Girls...? Oh.", because I hadn't actually noticed them for awhile. For some reason that was the funniest thing.

Then we listened George Harrison play the Sitar which was a bit much for me at the time.

P.S. Can this thread be about psychadelics now instead?

This is fucking gold.... I'll have to remember these points when some assclown tries to use the "Gateway Drug" argument haha~

On Topic: This is an amazing step in the right direction IMO, even just legalizing for medicinal use is a positive. It will most likely be legalized completely but I'd give it some time. For those saying that we'd lose money from the prisons not being as full, that may be a case, but the amount of cash the US would be able to rake in from selling/taxing (oh, and they'd tax the shit out of it..) MaryJane would more then compensate for that lacking. Not to mention the amount of cash the justice system has to pour out to force their "Drug War" on Marijuana, when it could be spent on much more hardcore drugs and/or guns.

Oh and, LOL@"Meixcan Weed" hahaha. If this brought down more bud from Canada I'd be even more amped, but I'm sure if the govt. grew some they could get some pretty wicked strains very easily and would be 100% profit for them (which would even help our countries economic crisis).

Being under 21, It's currently easier for me to pick up a eighth of some kush than it is for me to pickup some Alcohol.

Good to see the laws are doing their job.

You'd think that, but I was already well on the way to the crazy shit I spew at that point.

She did notice when I started getting curious about pot, let me take a puff from her little personal pipe with some really gloriously good pot in it.

Hacked and weezed for a few minutes, having never even smoked a cigarette before, then sat there wobbling in little counterclockwise circles.
