but the real question is if we get to see the developer's build or just a rehash of the alpha build again.

They do not state whether a playable version will be available or not... They might just show the trailer of the game, as far as we know! xD

(Up until a couple of days ago, FFXIV wasn't even listed there...)

With SE it'll be the same shit they've been showing us up to this point. We can only hope for alittle more but who really knows :/

Who knows, they kinda surprised us in Germany, maybe they will again. I will try not to expect too much, and hope I'm wrong.

Id expect something playable again, just seems like such a weird avenue to do a FFXIV showing otherwise and they said they wanted to do small focus testing on key concepts of the game. I believe they said next test would show off ideas they have for combat or at least something more in depth. For comparison sake the german games convention was to show off the Guild Leve system and was never meant to really show off the combat system.

Another reason I believe it will be there is that they are planning to release the game simultaneously in French, Japanese, German, and English and since they already showed the game to the German crowd, would only make sense the next stop be a French gaming con for the next show off.

Well, they didn't have a playable version in Japan. Personally I won't expect too much. To be honest, I'd be rather surprised if they have a playable version in France, as SE will show more love for the EU's then they ever have. Then again, perhaps its their way of compensating for all we've been run over before.

hoping for a new trailer. I've become very thirsty for new info... anything will do, even a picture..

Although SE did do good by providing a playable demo at gamescom, for something so recently announced having something like that ready is pretty cool imo. Time to wait and see

Tanaka said the next time we see FFXIV they hope it will be the next build of the game, which should be the development build which comes just before the first round of focus group beta. So whether it will be a new build or not, we have a few weeks to see..however will it be the same thing we've already seen? No, because everytime we get more word on FFXIV it always have been something new, regardless if its just a new monster or more detail on a previous announced aspect. So..we can turn the auto-pessimism-towards-SE switch off for at least another few weeks >.>

You have to remember that at TGS, one of the bigger reasons to not have anything more on FFXIV than they shown was because they needed to focus on promoting their FFXIII release.

Perhaps it will be a repeat of TGS, but they have been good about releasing new information regardless in every show they attend. Whether it be a new trailer or a new interview with exclusive information to tie everyone over.

It was announced at E3 this year, and yes they did say they had been working on it for 5 years when that happened (we knew it as rapture but im sure you know that), but there was no official announcement or any leak of any kind regarding FFXIV. E3 was the first time anybody even heard about FFXIV, so it was announced almost 5 months ago.

What im saying is, compare it to something like TOR. It was announced, and then what? they didn't release a playable build for use as a demo anywhere near that soon after they announced it. SE announced it (early mind you, if not for sony we only would have heard about it at TGS), and then very shortly afterward had a demo available in a foreign language. Thats awesome.

If I'm understanding the website correctly, the focus in this convention will be Final Fantasy XIII.
XIV is there probably because it's one of their new games, so why not?

Don't need any more images, because it's pretty obvious that the graphics are excellent. (Not that I'll complain if they release some.)

Some backstory, or a bit more information on the battle and job systems, especially on what the abilities will be like, would do nicely.
