oh man, was that from the first day when they released the NPC fellow quest? i just found my SS of the line in eldieme a couple days ago. looking back, i can't believe how (relatively) civilized that whole ordeal was, lol.

this also reminds me, i never bothered to go past the eldieme portion of that quest.

i remember hitting up all those old XP spots too... definitely do not miss any of them in the slightest, bibiki especially.

I fought that thing. It wasn't very much fun. You're capped at 20 and have to fight a treant that's nothing special except for its endless HP. The things were designed to take half the server collectively beating on them for days on end to kill.

Also, it wasn't "every Christmas." It was just the one time.

Yeah wow, I remember purchasing my original sorcerer's ring for a measly 3k, and of course, selling it for 5k before the whole converting hp to force latent was discovered. And yes, I remember getting Blitz rings from the BCNM and NPC'ing them =( .

I never managed to exp on possibly one of the most out-of-the-way camps ever: toads in Den of Rancor. I do remember trying to guide replacement party members to antlions in Attowah Chasm, though. Almost nobody had the map, of course, and they'd get lost/poisoned/eaten by corses without fail. All to end up exping on reasonably nasty mobs with AoE blind!

Speaking of AoE blind, most of my olde screenshots are on PS2, so...maybe if I have a really funny one.

Correct, it wasn't a christmas thing.

It was the Twinkling Treants for the Pernicious Presents event in 2003. The treants appeared in 12 zones. The reward for the first server to defeat all the treants was to get the outpost warps. Eventually of course this was opened up to all the servers. I believe Fenrir was the first server....someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

The hard part was dying to the treant didn't make you lose XP, but if anything else in the zone got you, you did lose XP. Suckers were rough too. Had an endrain with added effect bind. So would just line you up and beat the shit out of you. Was some fun shit.

I'm sure every mage remembers all too well leveling on Toromas in LoO...that place either broke you or made you a damn good mage. God, trying to level there as a Galka SMN....it was a nightmare.

Was your brother the Whimsic on Ragnarok? He was a cool guy, showed me some tips for soloing elementals in sky way back when. Really opened my eyes to grav nuking instead of sleeping after every nuke. Really nice guy. Wow, that was so long ago.

I remember some BST trying to solo Hellion and failing after dragging it near our camp. My party was like, "You know, we could probably take it." So we did. Leader was like, "Eh, freelot scythe I guess." I won it away from the DRK who probably would've used it. I've taken that damn thing out and messed around with it maybe twice. The endark is pretty cool-looking.

Erm, no, Whimsic was my character. <.<; Are you thinking of the guy that posted the video/guide of how to solo Pluto and Zlatorog as BLM on KI years ago?
