Shiro, today in university, my professor was speaking of the late Al Purdy, reading from a book he had edited, "The Last Canadian Poet", moreso a reference to his era and his milieu, rather than any claims of overt nationalism. One critic had made note of Purdy's open-endedness in many of his poems and had suggested an oversight on my professor's part in his role as an editor, feeling this open-endedness was an obvious post modern behaviour and should have been pontificated upon.

Astute an observation as it may be, I felt it was irrelevant given his strengths as a conversationalist and a book published so late in one's life (he was not yet "the late Al Purdy") was more interesting in the sense of what drove his poetry, and what brought a man to continue to write poetry unsuccessfully and self-admittedly awfully for 20 years until the age of 43 when he found his "voice" as a poet.

Post modern or not, this is his poetry's application, it has little to do with Purdy's life and much to do with how this man, as a critic wishes to take from it. If he wanted to expound on the seemingly post modern nature of an open-ended poem, perhaps he should write a book entitled "How I Feel About the Poetry of Al Purdy" and proceed to sell just 1 copy to himself. Or more crassly put, perhaps he could take that fucking book and shove it up his ass. But I digress.

again, all this would be very infuriating if it were working on me


it's one thing if you were clever or.. purposeful or really anything good at all, perhaps if you had any of these and I saw right through you, this might dispel some of your effects, your attempted trolls

but the simple fact is that your posting is piss poor and really doesn't phase me
