i'm 41 and im really starting to burn out between the length of the levels and the absolutely shitty kinah flow I have... I need some good motivation. Iron skin gave me a huge boner but now even thats starting to fade.

Yeah with a lack of having the ability to solo elites and things cash flow can be a huge pain in the ass. Hell I did a 3 hour grind to get my last 3 bars to level and I didn't get a single damn drop other than a couple of garbage accuracy stones, and some crafting garbage that paid more to NPC than the broker. The trash drops totaled over 50K though, which is sadly amazing for me.
My wife recently made a SM and I made a Ranger and we're gonna play around on those a bit to see how they go. Most likely we will both be rolling a Sorc soon or a Sorc/Cleric combo. Hopefully I will win the coin toss and be the Sorc so I can blow shit up.
Really, there is nothing left to give you that feeling back after you get IS. You think maybe when we pick up Shield Ret/Artery Slash at 42 or Prayer of Freedom at 46, but these skills just aren't worth it.
Getting into SR really does help. With a good group you can do Lower at 42-43 as well as Mid. The problem as a templar though is that most groups will not take you to lower at that level at this point. Mostly because you just flat out are not capable of tanking Grogget in Upper and groups that do lower tend to expect to do Upper since they nerfed the place.

Asmos really have to do healer/shamans for their hairpins? Im not quite sure on the numbers of those mobs, but you should at least be able to get 2 full turnins a run. Elyos can do 3.5 if they kill EVERY mob and stack quite a bit at the end.

Soloing elites is overrated. Its the cash flow that kills me. I know there are templar's out there that make a killing. Yet, I am not one of them. Grinding just doesn't give enough cashflow to survive.
Thankfully a large portion of my legion lives in SR so when I get there I won't have an issue in going. They've been pushing my wife and I to hurry up so we can join them.
I'm looking forward to doing some MM though so I can work on getting my speed boots. I completely forgot about them and I've been trying to save up enough kinah to buy the 33 speed boots and hands. But now that I can get some for free I can just get the hands made and be done with it. A crafter in my legion has crazy luck so hopefully he can make the gold hands for me.
After I get the hands I'll be looking to upgrade my sword and shield. My current best option for a weapon was a free blue hammer so I've been using that for now. But I miss my sword and it's crit goodness. Any good recommendations on swords about level 36 that don't cost like 20 mill, hell 1 mill is a pain in the ass for me to get.
Inferno sword quest! if you are elyos. I did it solo at level 32 w/o pots. It's a great sword for relatively cheap~
(C&P From aionsource forums from poster Rraahk)
1. Obtain the Fire Sword. This can be done by farming Dried Gnarls and Mottled Basilisks. Or if you aren't a complete masochist, you can go shopping on the Trade Broker (usually selling for 100-200k Kinah).
2. Once you have your Fire Sword, travel to Sataloca's Grave. With the Fire Sword in hand (read: equipped), speak to Garperos. He is located to the East of the other NPC's on a hill surrounded by the jaws of a fallen drake. He will give you the quest Fire Sword.
3. Go back out to the desert and hang a left, there you will need to kill Fire Spirits for three Flame Essences (they dropped 3/4 kills for me). Return to Garperos and obtain the Flame Sword - Items - Aion.
4. Once you achieve level 32, go to Sanctum and speak to Regmos - NPCs - Aion <Daeva of Flame>. With the Flame Sword equipped, he will give you the quest Flame Sword - Quests - Aion. I recommend buying a Sanctum Scroll from the General Merchant...
5a. Now back to Eltnen! Fly to Agairon Village and run north past the Drake Habitat. Run to Griffonix - NPCs - Aion and get the Fire Feather - Quests - Aion quest. Go to step 6. Note: Griffonix is only friendly during the DAYTIME, so you may want to skip ahead to the barghests and magma spirits if it's nighttime.
5b. Alternatively, you may kill Griffonix at night to attempt to obtain the feather by drop. The droprate is unconfirmed and he is a 3-star elite, so you'll likely want to bring friends. Once he is killed, he may respawn shortly thereafter as his friendly self. If you get the feather by drop, skip to step 9.
6. Run over the bridge to the west of Griffonix and kill Wind Spirits (Tornado and Sandstorm) and Viragos (Sentinels and Scavengers). The Wind Spirits can be rough, but you can get through them fairly easily.
7. If it's still daytime, you may have trouble finding Pretor Looters, but they are around. I found a spawn of 4 of them on a platform by the cliffs back toward the Drake Habitat.
8. Once it's daytime again, return to Griffonix to complete the quest.
9. Go South to Geroch Caldera. Getting through here can be rough at 32 as most mobs are 36+. On the left side, there are the Burning Barghests that you need. The tails seem to have a 30% drop rate, these weren't too hard.
10. Also keep your eyes open for the Magma Spirits for the Essence. That seemed to be closer to a 10% drop rate for me.
11. Now use that Scroll to Sanctum and talk to Regmos again... Congrats on your sword!
So I take it Terrible Howl is a let down?
nope asmo
You'll make a boatload of kinah 46-50. Made about 10mil from selling plat. coins and another 15-20 grinding my Fenris' shoulder quest. Unfortunately, the kinah goes fast.
On a side note; I did NTC today for the first time since release, on my ranger. It's completely ridiculous the damage i was doing. 2k crits at lev 25 is crazy to me.
Well I'm hoping to make some at some point just so I can fix my busted ass gear and then gear up my alt. I'm hoping by the time I get to that point I'll be able to decide if I want to make Sin or Ranger my next job. I'm looking to play around with at least enough jobs to get a full daeva set so either one can take full advantage of it.
I was pretty let down when I got IS and saw it was 30 sec with a whopping 10 min CD. With that kind of wait I end up treating it like DP skills and keep saving them for when shit gets bad, but I always end up dead before using. >.> Rage is so lulz in pve I haven't even seen artery slash come up since hitting 42, and for pvp I am just free AP for the elyos. ;;
Also, can someone clarify what constitutes the mid, upper, and lower parts of SR?
IS should be on a 3 or 5 min cooldown so we could, you know, take less damage than any other class like we're supposed to.
Call me a shit Templar but i feel the same... PvP solo i die 80% of the time. Maybe it's because the higher levels come and farm me, or maybe it's because my class sucks. My best Aion friend is a ranger and we really own the abyss together.
Imo Templar shine in groups i rarely die when i have a DPS or healer with me. Templar seems fine when you soak all your kinah into the class... i have seen a lvl 45 Templar with full +10 gold gear and a 9m Paralyze Godstone own a few lvl 50s. I'm a lvl 43 Temp and he killed me within 10 seconds, he was good but I'm convinced he buys Kinah since he doesn't have a craft above 200...
Maybe I'm a n00b!?
nope
its got its uses
but slotting it or not, will depend on your advance stigma because theres prolly only 1-2 slots open if you do divine justice for example (which i did) and my 2 free slots consist of UD and bodyguard
i often swap bodyguard with terrible howl or aether armor, depend what im doing
bodyguard for mass pvp/dred obviously, terrible howl for pve(and solo pve), and aether armor for solo rifting/pvp
should get alot of more space if you dont do any advance sigma
I have 2 slots open after killing all of the bosses in SR, now it's a matter of farming the AP...
Tol-
Ha... I just looked at your sig and we're on the same server, opposite sides. I think I was chasing after you and several other Elyos over the last few days.
Hang out around Alsig much? Or do you camp Morheim gate?
Terrible Howl is fantastic for Dredge also. Nothing better than throwing on UD and running into a group of Asmos while they have mobs then fearing 4 of them while the group takes out the other two. Divine Grasp + Terrible Howl is almost an instant win when you PvP in Dredge.
What is a good stigma build for end game?
Depends; PVP, PVE, mace build, sword build, great sword build?
Id love to hear the GS build one...
I am on working on my damn Drana for the last stigma slot. However, I am managed to pick up UD while playing my alt and have been LOVING it. UD just simply can not be bought on Vaizel. I have been doing a fairly hybrid build with Incite/BG/UD/Punishment/Break. The full Advanced Stigma builds just seem less than stellar at best.
I am however looking for a good Macro for Bodyguard. I have not been happy with BG as a stigma outside of Dredgion. Which makes me really just want to ditch it since we usually just get trained upon for an hour anyway makiing Dredgion more of a PvE fest for us.
