yea I was going post to mention that but saw you already did, that seems like worst slot to trade off really, and O-hat giving up heca seems similarly bad to me since 11 str and 5 dex of crits for 6.25 acc compared to using ares hands for +7 acc for 3 str/4dex of crits, or compared to Aurum feet from Heca, 5 acc, 5 att for 6 str.

Okay so the general theory is that if Iota rounds your dex up to a whole number then it would be better then a +5 acc ring(blood sniper's woodsman etc).

According to FFXI Caculator 3.19.

My dex is 68+14
Without that ring slot i have +50 acc Scythe @ 276
With empty ring slot is 49 acc in gear 82 DEX and 378.8 ~ 82.3% Total acc
With blood ring is 54 acc in gear 82 DEX and 383.8 ~84.3% Total acc
With Iota ring is 52 acc in gear 85 DEX 384.1 ~84.5% Total acc

Does FFXI Calculator fail and still use blood or Caculator on the button and use iota?

Eh... are you kidding me? I mean the 117 dex for bird obviously. And anything higher lvl you go with a str + att build. Where did I say you use the 117 dex build on stuff other than bird? It is pretty obvious the OP was trying to hit that 117 mark for bird only, hence why he asked if for anything harder he should do a str + att build... duh~

For THF TA WS, would you recommend DH, Denali Jacket, or Heca Harness?
I use Denali Jacket for now because of the AGI+10, but I'm wondering if this is the best way to go with Trick Attack.

Denali Jacket if Mandalic Stab, DH if Shark Bite, HH if DE/Evis... unless Feint is on or you are eating sushi/pizza and the mob's evasion is hence low, in which case DH for DE/Evis too.

Still working on Mandalic Stab, but thats pretty much the set up that I do tend to use. Thanks for tips, just wanted to see if Denali Jacket was worth macro'ing in for all weapon skills when using Trick Attack

Basically adding AGI onto WS doesn't normally do much, since:

DE/Evis: DEX/Atk/Acc/STR all help these WSs a great deal
SB: DEX/Atk/Acc/STR all help this WS a great deal
But suddenly on Mandalic Stab, you don't need accuracy. Attack is good but you're likely to be capped or close to. Suddenly it becomes STR/DEX vs AGI, where AGI on a TA-WS will increase damage far more than STR or DEX. Denali Jacket then becomes a very strong piece for it (though DH may win out if your attack is still low even after mandalic's x1.66 and TA's critical).

Here's another Rose Strap question. I'm currently using Hachiman Kote +1 in my TP set to get the 6 hit. I picked up a Rose Strap and I was wondering if I should use that instead of the Hachiman Kote +1? I'm 1 TP short on my 6 hit, but I have a 5 hit after I WS. Should i just keep the strap and sell the kotes?

All I'm getting in response is something about sword strap and 6 hit builds, when i counter with white tathlum and chiv chain to make up the stp while still being ahead in acc, somehow DA+3%, some dex, and like 12 atk is better than 5 base dmg, some acc, and 2.5 procs. Also, can 2.5 proc on jumps?

<edit> If someone is bored, could they do the math with the best possible gear sets for each weapon? Elvaan drg/sam, 5/5 str, 8/8 polearm, in a brd/cor birds party (or some other mob if you prefer). Also, he tells me that gungir def down overwrites angon, so take that into account if you can.

No it can't proc on jumps, though I am pretty ryunohige will beat the shit out of Gungnir anywhere you can manage to keep the aftermath level 3 up really. That aside Gungnir will easily beat V fork always regardless of sword strap, and no it shouldn't overwrite angon since nothing else in this game lets less potent, and shorter duration.
