At what point would 4 Accuracy overtake 2-4 STR and 15 Attack? Essentially trying to figure out when, if ever, the new Accura Cape +1 would exceed the usual melee capes.

oops
Any job would be relevant. I'm looking for a hypothetical breakpoint. Monk, Ninja, or Samurai would suit my interests, though.
Well as far as mnk goes, let's assume 500 attack, greater colibri, 70/30 DoT/WS ratio, Dia II
((515/293)-.35)/((500/293)-.35) = 3.77% increase
Applies to 70% of your damage
3.77 x .7 = 2.39% increase
As far as the str goes, you either get an fstr or you don't.
Assuming 5 fstr to begin with
53 + 5 = 58
59/58 = 1.72% increase
Again applies to 70% of your damage
1.72 x .7 = 1.204% increase
1.01204 x 1.0239 = 3.62% increase
4 acc is 2% hitrate
assuming 80% hitrate
2/80 = 2.5% increase
But this is only when you're guaranteed 1 fstr up. (cerb+1)
Amemet+1 is 50% fstr up, forager 75% fstr up.
going back to this number
59/58 = 1.72% increase
For amemet+1 1.72 x .5 = .86 x .7 = .602
For forager 1.72 x . 75 = 1.29 x .7 = .903
1.00602 x 1.0239 = 3% increase
1.00903 x 1.0239 = 3.31% increase
Safe to say, that back won't be winning on mnk.
If we had sam though, where its 30/70, replace when I multiply by .7 w/ .3 and those will be your figures there, which I'm assuming will be less than the 2.5% increase from the acc, but don't feel like reworking it atm lol
Screw it i'll do a quickie
((515/293)-.35)/((500/293)-.35) = 3.77% increase
Applies to 70% of your damage
3.77 x .3 = 1.131% increase
As far as the str goes, you either get an fstr or you don't.
Assuming 5 fstr to begin with
75 + 5 = 80
81/80 = 1.25%
Applies to 30% of your damage
1.25 x .3 = .375% increase
1.00375 x 1.01131 = 1.5% increase.
Amemet+1 and up wins on mnk
Acc+4 wins on sam (even if you're at 93% 2/93 = 2.15% increase)
Thanks, methodology helps more than the specific answer.
Lsmate wondering about his SAM penta gear:
Cuchu & Warwolf
Amemet+1 & Virtuoso Belt
Thoughts?
I'd have to say it would depend on your acc and dex, as well as food.
Shikkoku Kote/ Shinku Kote/Ginhaku Kote ([Hands] All Races
DEF:17 STR+3 Accuracy+5 Increases critical hit damage
LV 71 MNK SAM PUP)
Vs other hands for no full usu mnk with destroyers?
Well, consdiering mnk generally has floored crit rate on any mob worth a fuck, I'd have to say those are worse than Nkote in uncapped acc, and worse than bkote in capped acc. Floored crits w/ destroyers/merits are like 15% proc rate. w/ a 15% proc rate, enhancing them are like enhancing kicks (and i'm sure these aren't going to add as much to crits as dunes do kicks) but we won't know until we know exactly how they enhance crits.
The GAxe in my sig, or Perdu?
I would probably use the kheten as long as doing so didn't drop your hitrate from 95%.
Denali Jacket, Commodore Frac, or some other body I'm overlooking for Slug Shot? Skadi body is outside my scope of play at the moment. Accuracy is generally decently high, 80%+, Martial Gun, Sushi on most things above merit level.
Relevant WS gear:
Joyeuse/Vulcan's - Empty/Axe Grip - Martial Gun - Steel Bullet
Corsair's Tricorne +1 - Breeze Gorget - Drone Earring - Drone Earring
Body Piece Here (Currently Denali) - Deadeye Gloves - Merman's - Merman's
Amemet +1 - Buccaneer's - Pahluwan Seraweels - Corsair's Bottes +1
Depending on Rolls and SJ, I'll occasionally use Rajas instead of a second Merman's to preserve an x-hit.
BLM and RDM Idle, Umbra Cape or Shadow Mantle?
I tend to use Denali body, but then on things above merit level I generally use Detonator. My setup is:
Joyeuse/Vulcan's - empty/Axe - Martial - Steel
AF+1 - Light Gorget - Triumph - Fenrir/Beater's/Drone
Denali - Skadi - Jalzahn's - Rajas
AM+1 - Relic - Skadi - AF+1
Not a lot of accuracy, but...well, see rule #1.
It's situational. In a situation where you might get one-shotted, Shadow Mantle is the only thing that'll save you. In fact, in a situation where you might get three-shotted, unless Umbra gives you a fourth hit then it's doing nothing for you. If Shadow Mantle procs on one of those three hits, then you get a fourth hit. As a mage you can recognize situations where that might apply (Taru vs. JoPrudence Triple Attack comes to mind).
If you're just looking for the most damage down possible, use Umbra cape and night and Shadow Mantle during the day.
At night, even assuming 10% proc rate on Shadow Mantle and no additional -%PDT gear it's -12% from Umbra vs. -10% Annulment rate from Shadow mantle.
During the day, Shadow Mantle is going to beat it unless you have between -40% and -44% PDT without a back slot (It's not possible for BLM yet).
Damage*(1- % PDT)*(1 - 10% chance of annulment) = Damage*(1-% PDT - 6% from Umbra)
% PDT = 40%, so >40 Umbra is better, <40 Shadow is better, and =40 they're the same.
Damage*(1- % PDT)*(1 - 10% chance of annulment) = Damage*(1-50% PDT with Umbra)
% PDT = 44.44%, so >45 Shadow is better and <45 Umbra is better.
Terra's, new legs, Jelly Ring, D-ring puts you at -39%. Until you get all that gear and some hitherto unknown piece of BLM Damage Taken-% gear, Umbra at night and Shadow during the day on BLM.
RDM can hit between -40 and -44%, but unless you happen to be in that range you should be wearing Shadow Mantle.
Keep in mind everytime Shadow Mantle procs you wont get your spells interrupted, while getting hit with Umbra will do nothing in that respect.
