The answer is probably going to be because people assumed their accuracy was just fine. Your typical meat monk back then only had roughly around 358.7-368.7 accuracy which would be around 70-75% acc or lower in some camps when focus was down. Obviously this isnt enough, but being a mnk many years, I still remember reading about how "good" their accuracy was. Even today when a lot is already known, you will still get people wearing less accuracy than they should because they *feel* that their accuracy is fine.
As far as Waghs vs Destroyers go, I wouldnt call them better than destroyers, if anything they are "on par" with them. If best, it would be a best case scenerio waghs, worst case scenerio for destroyers, that youd get waghs > Destroyers. Ofcourse you have to be on the ball with your ws, any TP over flow around 120tp for waghs and they quickly lose out to destroyers.
And if I remember back then ( I didn't havemonk leveled), the craze was bone PTS in KRT with only tough mobs. I remember those monks bragging about their burns there.. and the other merit camps ( Ullegerand, sky) had mobs much lower level than now.
Maat's cap vs. AGI+4 Increases weapon skill damage (+2%) + STR+4 Weapon Skill Accuracy +15
for Coronach
For pure nuke damage, Ebon Coat vs Genie Weskit--assuming a fully MAB geared Black Mage.
genie
Yea here's some of the math on it~
Assuming ~50% on fSTR2 of ranged attacks, and 40% AGI, 40% DEX as mods.
Maat's (7 STR, 7 DEX, 7 AGI) vs MKD (4 STR, 4 AGI, WS DMG+2%)
Reduces to:
3 STR, 3 AGI, 7 DEX vs WS DMG+2%
Mods round down, so I'm just giving an average.
3 STR * .5 = ~1.5 base DMG
3 AGI * .4 * .83 = ~1 base DMG
7 DEX * .4 * .83 = ~2 base DMG
4.5 base DMG * capped Attack(3.0) * 3.0 fTP = 40.5 damage.
In order for MKD's 2% to win, you'd need to do over 2025 damage.
PLD/NIN TP body:
1. Hauby +1
or
2. Avalon Breastplate
Hauby +1 to tp with. Can make a case for Avalon Breastplate if fighting a mob with dangerous and fast magical moves for which you predict you wont have enough time to swap to your MDT & MDB setup, but those mobs are usually not Atonement friendly, reason for Avalon to be mainly a situational piece (SS if no Crimson or sometimes ACP, MDT if no I.R. etc).
Situational will always be situational, but from experience, 85-95% of the time, youll be in Hauby+1.
Helps more if you can point ppl to what mobs you had in mind. ^This, if just in general all mobs in endgame. Str/attack from hauby+1 really help with reducing 0s while maintaining a good chunk of acc.
On the note of atonementspam PLD, Marinara Pizza or Dorado Sushi for gods/jailers I'd atonement spam/Ks99 wyrm/limbus bosses?
I like the idea of being able to do two jobs with the same pair of legs, but on the face of it, the 2 augs don't look 'right' together.
The only place I melee on RDM is Campaign and with Composure I don't need the acc.
In the few situations where I actually need to get the hell out of Dodge, I would be thankful of taking less damage.
I think I will take haste for now, as it will be used more often than the PDT. If I get nashira legs then I will probably redo the fight for Movements/PDT.
Sushi probably(sky), you shouldnt be hitting any 0s outside of genbu(pizza probably on genbu), as far as sea, probably wouldnt matter.
And yes, atonement is great for ks99/limbus bosses. On omega, once hes perma 2legged though, theres no reason to atone/tp up on him on pld imo.
Aside from byakko/prudence sushi vs pizza is going to be 10% hitrate vs 50-55att. If atonement is all you are looking for, than either is fine. If w/e dot you can muster from joys melee matters aswell to you, pizza+1.
Heres something to consider aswell, from what I discussed with another pld from their acc and parse, omega/ultima , you need around 467~ish to cap acc. As they had 437 ish, and parsed roughly 78-82% for both, I havent been able to confirm this myself yet though. However, khim and cerb are around 440~ish to cap acc, so that should give you a ball park of where you want your pld acc to be close to.
what's faster: pld/nin joy justice no suppa VS pld/drg, @ what haste does it change
(lol PLD in lsmeripo)
You're changing too many variables at once there. Which sword does the PLD/DRG use? Do they use Brutal? Do they use Homam body? Do they need the 10 Acc from /DRG? Do they need the full 5% Haste from Wyvern Earring? Do they also need the 1% Haste from Wyvern targe, and do they use it?
Easy answer would be:
.85*(1-x) = (1-x-.05)
.15x = .1
x = ~67% Haste.
67% Haste isn't possible to reach for a PLD with only 20% Haste in gear (needing the full 5% from Wyvern earring) (35% from Magic + 20% from gear + 10% from Samba = 65%), thus it's never a good idea to sub DRG over NIN. However, this undervalues the DRG sub overall, as there is 10 Acc/Atk and Jumps to take into account, along with the minor difference between Joyeuse or Justice solo and Joy/Justice duo (STR+7, having a ranged slot, piercing damage).
Says Hi
But silliness aside, there is a lot of info missing from the OP.
Isn't exactly a question of whats better, maybe a question of whats worth more. The doubt come from Hauberk vs Osode for BST, for you info i not have more jobs that can equip hauberk or osode, i use it for solo in boyahda and casually in events like limbus for pull, never HNM/merit/dynamis/etc... So, trying to save room, i'm decent equiped with a Osode for tp or i have to get both?
I'm thinking about levelling DRG because I have most the gear for it from THF but I'm really not sure what to do from here for Drakesbane, assuming Valkyrie's Fork and ignoring the 2 DEX I get from Thallasocrat atm:
Valkyries Fork
Sword Strap
----
Tiphia Sting
Hecatomb Cap
Love Torque
Ear1
Brutal Earring
Body??
Hecatomb Mittens
Thunder Ring
Rajas Ring
Cuchulain's Mantle
Warwolf Belt
Legs
Hecatomb Leggings
Which gives me 65+38 DEX currently, leaving 14 to be gained to cap dDEX on Greater Colibri (the only mob I care about atm).
Ear1 choices: Hollow Earring, Coral Earring (DEX+1, Attack+5), Triumph Earring
Body choices: Zahak's Mail, Aurum Cuirass
Legs choices: Hecatomb, Ares, Askar
Accuracy is not an issue and Love Torque is staying in before someone says to use a WS Gorget, I am just concerned what the best 3 choices would be there and why. Please do not say "X+Y because I use it and I said so", I'm more interested in a rough calculation of x STR/Attack/Crit Rate adds y damage.
