Because a lot of them go "I'll have a double cheeseburger with biggie fries and you better make that a diet coke"
Because a lot of them go "I'll have a double cheeseburger with biggie fries and you better make that a diet coke"
This is so crazy to think it's Japan doing this... When I spent the summer there a few years ago their biggest meal set was the equivalent of a small or medium set in the states... That burger could quite literally feed a whole family in Japan and still have leftovers...
Reminds me of this picture:
Spoiler: show
and this one:

I can think rubbing sperm in my asshole will give me eternal life. It doesn't mean it will. It's not like there's a fine line between reality and bullshit. Reducing caloric intake by drinking soda does jack shit, because the real killer in soda isn't the caloric value, it's the amount of sugar.
Likewise, it's not a minor trade-off to have something healthier in them. Diet soda is actually not healthier than regular soda. Diet Coke, for example, has more Caffeine (slightly) than normal Coke. It also has about 125mg of Aspartame (which is questionably unhealthy in the first place). Aspartame, since it's a derivative of the amino acid Aspartate, can be completely digested in the body. Since your body utilizes amino acids, repeated consumption of high levels of Aspartame can actually throw your neurotransmitters into inbalance (since aspartic acid is already produced by the body in sufficient levels) leading to various diseases and/or syndromes.
Now, as if that wasn't enough, 100 calories in comparison isn't a difference in any respect. If you look at the calories above (and trans fat is a huge difference-maker in foods, of which when you eat a large meal you are consuming about 3.0g per meal when the body caps out at 0.5g per day) and add up the differences over 5 days:
Source: McDonald's USA - McDonald's Nutrition Facts
Diet soda: 1-5 cal, 0.0g Trans Fat
Normal soda: 500 cal, 0g Trans Fat
Eating Double Cheeseburger: 2200 cal, 7.5g Trans Fat
Eating Large Fries: 500 cal, insignificant Trans Fat
Total Calories consumed (soda): 3200 cal, 7.5g Trans Fat
Total Calories consumed (diet soda): 2700 cal, 7.5g Trans Fat
Eating Cheeseburger: 1500 cal, 2.5g Trans Fat
Eating Small Fries: 230 cal, insignificant Trans Fat
Total Calories consumed (soda): 2230 cal, 2.5g Trans Fat
Total Calories consumed (diet soda): 1730 cal, 7.5g Trans Fat
Now, using your brain, what do you think has a bigger impact on that fat-ass' health? Cutting the diet soda out, or cutting the size of the meal out? To maximize effectiveness, diet soda, coupled with smaller portions, will have the largest impact. However, if you look up above, you'll see that even with using diet soda, a person who consumed 5 meals has still eaten a considerable amount of 'bad food' regardless of the caloric difference (a whopping 500 calories, woo) in sodas.
I don't think I need to explain this further. Multiply those numbers by about 50-52 and you'll have how much shit you've put in your body over a year, and you'll still see how insignificant (compared to the meal) diet soda is.
And as I said before: "Though one could argue the healthiness of diet soda but that's obviously not your point"
And again, who said anything about the fat ass becoming healthy? He's obviously still indulging. But why can't he do a single healthy thing? You people keep talking about how "He's drinking diet soda, he's trying to be completely healthy!" I don't get it. He's eating fast food, he's obviously not trying to be completely healthy. Why does doing one healthier thing* require mocking?
*and, again, ignoring the actual arguement of how "healthy" diet soda is since that obviously wasn't the original posters point.
All this arguing over soda, and noone caught the bread part? That's honestly better than the diet soda, truthfully.
"Yes, I would like 10 double cheeseburgers, no buns, and a diet coke."
I can honestly say I've only seen someone else requesting a similar menu once or twice (I had to do it often before on food runs due to one particular person at work), but knowing the reason for it, and knowing what the person asking for this meal is most probably like, I can barely contain my humor. The diet soda is just the frosting on the cake.
i dont like fat people.
tells me that they are weak, they disrespect themselves by eating so much, they could donate some of that food to someone who would really need it. they don't have limits they let themselves go, and then their whole lives is just suffering from physical limitations and diseases
I'd love to beat a fat guy because of his fatness.
mymy i woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. no but really dont sympathize on obesity.
Spoiler: show
eat to live people. not live to eat.
P.S: i still dont get what does windows got to do with the whopper.
WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, seriously.
For a Chick-Fil-A meal:
Medium fries, 8-piece nuggets + medium coke = 800 calories.
Large fries, 12-piece nuggets + large diet coke = 825 calories.
Diet soda lets you consume a lot more for very little change in total calories consumed, at least at that place, heh.

Amidoinitrite?
Seriously though, food is disgusting.
Lemme know when I can transfer to a full cyborg body please.
....food is disgusting, ok, trying explaining that to the starving people in Africa.
you're so inconsiderate and ungrateful. FUCK
I can't help but think about the processes going on when I eat.
I never said I was ungrateful for being able to eat.
edit: I don't think I am really grateful either, weird as that sounds, but either way, I simply am. I do not need to give thanks to any except my mother.
I'm not anorexic or any of that stupid shit either.
I just have to block out what I'm doing, or I sit there and start thinking about the chemicals I'm munching on, the enzymes going to work, the processes awaiting it all in my bowels, the fact that pretty much everything in the horrid foulness I left earlier in the toilet bowl... was in something I ate.
All gets to be way too hard to ignore sometimes and I just wind up chewing and chewing and can't swallow.
Fuck, you ever worked in food service?
Burger King, Wendy's, Dairy Queen.
I can appreciate food at times if I just totally ignore what is going on, but I've also got to scan what I'm eating for hairs, stray dust or that random bastard fly that manages to slip in the house and walk around vomiting on my meal before I shoo it away...
Better yet, ever stuck a knife in a jar of peanut butter to make a sandwich... and when you scooped some out, the jar came up with it... then slid off the long hair that was embedded in the jar you just broke the tamper proof seal on?
*hasn't had a pb&j sandwich in 8 years*
idk about you guys, but I'd eat the fuck out of that thing. Sure I'd be sick afterwards, but it's about the adventure!
It's all put in perspective when you consider the amount of dust mites, skin flakes and other miniscule/microscopic things in the air you inhale/ingest on a daily basis. I'm picky as fuck about my food too but I do try to put it all in perspective sometimes and just enjoy what I'm eating even if I would normally have inhibitions. There are still a few things I won't eat due to the smell/taste (pig products, among other things), but when I consider the dust mites I sleep with and the bugs living in the roots of my eyelashes I kinda stop caring.
Not to sound like a douche, but whenever someone brings up the "starving people in africa" line I always think of the Sally Struthers episode in South Park. I couldn't really give a fuck. Yeah, I'm a very compassionate human being.
With that, I would never in a million years eat this burger.
I gave an anti-atkins diet speech in my public speaking class in college. I actually used an example like that during it. It was two pics a whopper and a whopper without a bun to make that exact point. All this arguing over soda, and noone caught the bread part? That's honestly better than the diet soda, truthfully.
"Yes, I would like 10 double cheeseburgers, no buns, and a diet coke."
As for the Windows 7 burger.... I don't need breakfast anymore and felt my chest tighten just looking at that picture. Japan is probably going to be skyrocketing up the Obese% scales if they keep this up.
look at your examples, junk food and peanut butter. you ever tasted a swedish green apple? oh.my.god..have you tasted a roasted lamb from Syria? oh.my.god.
have you visited turkey's peach gardens? where you pick peaches from trees and just indulge in the tasty juicy fruit? oh.my.god
you need to get out more, homez.
Personally, i do not consider fast/junk food, food. its like if im starving, i'd eat it, but other than that, its not listed as food in my head.
when you learn to differentiate between that and real food; you'll probably be grateful.
there are two things, you can never get rid of as a human being
food and fucking.
That's only total calories, though. It doesn't take into account Saturated Fats, Trans Fats, or other ingredients used in the food.
I have to explain this to my father all the time that caloric intake, while a major factor in weight maintenance, is not the most contributing one. Case in point, a 300 calorie salad has the same caloric value as a 300 calorie cheeseburger. Which one do you think is healthier for you?
But yea, your Chick-Fil-A post serves to solidify my point very well. Diet Coke does lower the caloric intake by about 100 calories, allowing you to eat more. Eating more isn't a good thing, especially when it means more fat, more cholesterol, and more sodium.
No one's said it outright yet so I will..
There is no way something that big will fit in a Japanese person.
Obligatory dick joke etc etc
Anyway, Diet Coke > Coke, I've always liked it for the taste and always will.
