Just saw the last two episodes of the season last night. The finale was excellent. Neal's expression on the plane at the end had me torn between feeling sad and happy for him. The way they've written this, it seems hard to figure out how next season will go, unless it'll be all about Peter trying to capture him again. Which makes me sad again as Neal was just hours away from possibly being a free man, as long as you disregard Agent Kramer's interference.

Yeah, it seems like he had a good chance of being free. But on the other hand neil saw Peter shake his head in front of Kramer and took things into his own hands.

I dunno if it was clearly done, since I would understand if someone were upset that running away with mozzie came out of nowhere, but I really loved the, "animal pushed back into a corner" motif they gave neil. He wasn't gambling with his life or putting it in someone elses hands(by hoping peter makes everything right in there). Pretty badass finale, imo

Yeah, but Peter knew what Neal's response would be and in my opinion pretty much gave Neal permission to leave. Neal didn't have any other choice except to go on the run again or be a slave for life.

Heh, didn't think of it like that. Good observation - he even lectured kramer on "knowing" neal. AND he talked about not treating him like he's caged during the interview thing.

I dunno if you mean Peter actually meant to tell neal to run with the headshake, but I think it's certain that he at least inadvertently told him to leave.

between shaking his head subtly so Kramer wouldn't notice and saying to the committee he believed Neal earned his freedom, one would assume Peter knew exactly what would happen.

Peter didn't have to mean anything other than "don't come any closer Neal"; he knew Neal would run on any hostile scenario (be it in jail in NY or rigt after landing in D.C. to work for Kramer)

I'm not so much on board with Peter knowing his headshake would lead to Neal running - and if he did I'd sooner think it was to disprove of running.

I thought him saying Neal should be free at the hearing was because he would try and fight Kramer off legally.

Peter's a lawfullly good type character, I don't think he'd condone running.. let alone instigating it.

Since we're basing our opposing views off a minute headshake, it's hard to tell how far Peter meant it to go. Obviously the goal was to have Neal not get any closer or be taken in by Kramer. But when Peter hears about Neal's escape, he doesn't look too surprised. They focused so much on his face when he's told, you pretty much know Peter knew beforehand.

Also there is no proof that peter did anything wrong so in the end he can deny it to the ends of the earth and no one could say otherwise. Peter does things by the book but he also knows the book is black and white on almost everything when we deal with 50 shades of grey in between all the time. I mean he wasn't going to say anything about the art after talking to his wife about it and that point makes it hit home even more.

I just hope the new season isn't like what they did with peters wife being kidnapped where this whole thing is wrapped up and pushed under the rug like it never happened after 1 episode. I would like to see a whole season develop from this.

Fuck, why did he have to run? >.<

And I hate Kramer - what makes him think Neil wouldn't willingly work for the FBI if he got released? Season finale made me sad.

And yes; I really hope they won't go "It's alright Neil, we'll forget it ever happened" next season.

Uh, kramer didn't want Neil to work for the fbi, he wanted him to work for HIM. It would not surprise me to see Neil willingly work with Peter, but there's no chance he would have gone to DC with Kramer, if he could avoid it.

Idk why USA pushes the main story lines in shows so quickly. I was dumbfounded at the final episode of monk. That shit could have been wrapped up so quickly and instead they made it last for like 10 years.

Being on the run will be cool.. although how do you get episodes to be the regular 5 minutes of important story and ~40 minutes of some random case/etc.
