I grew up with the tekken games at the arcades, before the arcade was taken away for a fucking food place, I don't remember which ones I played at the arcade but I played it because apparently we had no SF games there.


Anyway is anyone going to pick this up on the ps3?

4 was the best imo.

Plot

Following his victory in the previous tournament, Jin Kazama has taken charge of the Mishima Zaibatsu and now possesses tyrannical ambitions. Using his resources within the organization to become a global superpower, he severs the Mishima Zaibatsu's national ties and openly declares war against all nations. This action plunges the world into a chaotic spiral, with war erupting around the globe and even amidst the space colonies orbiting the planet. His biological father, Kazuya Mishima, is aware of this and finds Jin's interference in his own plans for global domination to be a nuisance. Now in charge of G Corporation (which was put under his command following a violent fury against the company's heads), Kazuya is seen as the only force who could oppose Jin and places a bounty on Jin's head for anyone who can capture him. Jin's response is to announce The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 in order to battle Kazuya and crush G Corporation.

Tekken 6, which will be released on October 27, 2009 for the PS3, and Xbox 360, and on November 24, 2009 for the PSP , is the sequel to Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection which have been well-received by fans of the Tekken fighting games. Katsuhiro Hirada, game director for Tekken 6 and previous Tekken games, said that the stages will be bigger and will have more interactivity, such as walls or floors that can be broken to reveal new fighting areas. The character customization feature has been enhanced, and will be more involved with the gameplay.

A new "rage" system has been added, which allows characters to do more damage per hit when their vitality is low. Once activated, a reddish energy aura appears around the character and their health bar starts to flicker red. The rage aura can be customized with different colors and effects to appear like fire, electricity, ice and others. Another gameplay feature added is the "bound" system. Every character has several moves that, when used on an opponent that is currently midair in a juggle combo, will cause the opponent to be smashed hard into the ground, bouncing them off the floor in a stunned state and leaving them vulnerable to another combo or additional attack.

The console versions will have an extra mode entitled "Scenario Campaign" which bears similarities with the "Tekken Force" and "Devil Within" modes from previous installments. This mode is playable only by one player offline, but with a future patch will be playable co-operatively online with two players. In this mode players can pick up weapons such as poles and gatling guns. Players can move freely between fights, but when a group of enemies are encountered, the gameplay switches to the traditional Tekken style.

Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will include an online versus multiplayer mode over PlayStation Network and Xbox Live respectively. Other features in the console versions include a toggle option for motion blur.

There is another armored king out there apparently(a brother)?

You see it after beating Arena with King.

He goes to a picture frame with Armored king and picks it up and stares at it then puts it back but drops it and breaking the glass, revealing a picture behind it, showing another armored king with the current armored king.

Haha, neat stuff...King has been my favorite character since I first beat Arcade Tekken 2 with him....also grew up with this game.

I do generally play with Lei but yeah, King is King!

IGN review is out by the way, a kick ass 8.8. Everything I liked with Tekken games seems to be there again.

I'm looking forward to this only in the sense that Upstate NY is supposedly "top tier" in this game, so I'll join in just cause the scene for it here is so huge.

I'll probably be one of the few going for the PSP version (whenever I get me a new one to replace my dead fat). Played the friggen utter shit out of Tekken5: DR, did story mode for all the characters and maxed out at the dojo.

Will depend on reviews first though, may never know if they'll botch the port. Main highlight of 5 for me was getting the console experience on the handheld with everything intact (excluding the non-fighting extras which I don't care for), with extremely minimal loading screens. Great for pickup-and-play.

Btw, how do they determine which character 'wins' the tournament of the previous installment. A draw from a hat or something?


On a side note, I don't know about you guys, but I'm not particularly fond of knocking a player off into another portion of the map bit that other fighters have been doing lately (DoA, SC come to mind). I really prefer the infinite-size terrains. No cornering, it's just you and the opponent.

Funny, I stopped playing Tekken hardcore at 3 but always kept up with the story along the sequels. Might pick this up. Hopefully they'll finally settle the whole dysfunctional family thing.

Hwoarang!!! ARGHHHH!!! Tekken is a must have for me. Hopefully, my PS3 will be able to play it (It's bashed up from moving place to place and seems to have difficulty playing certain games).
