Random Crafting Question Thread I: HQ secret cracked!

After PMing the guy, it turns out he has 100 smithing, +2 neck, +1 hands, +1 body, and +5 furniture/stall. Goldsmithing 60, +1 specs, and HQ GOLD support... 109 smithing 64 goldsmithing. Maybe this is the magic number. Says it's the 5th one he's crafted.

Yeah that threw me off also. He claims to have made 5 of them this way, so he'd know better than most of us though. My friend is 99.8 smithing, I can't reliably check the cap on it without spamming them til' I see a .1 huh?

If you had a level 80 smithing friend you could check the cap. Just have him toss the mats up while engaged every level until he can make it.

I used Cursed Breastplate and Ebon Breastplates back in the day to skill up from 99 to 100 smithing.

I heard they also nerfed fishing, drop rates, proc rates, and the random augment systems. ;P

The model I use is that at all tiers of HQ rate, those HQs will be divided into 12/16 HQ1, 3/16 HQ2, 1/16 HQ3.

12:3:1 is what I use as well. I remember seeing a study years ago that involved about 4000 synths. I can't seem to find that one anymore (maybe someone else knows where it was), but http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/471...80#post1675580 I believe was a separate test also showing the same ratio.

HQ Stratification
Once the game has decided that your craft was HQ, it will determine the HQ strata.
Craftskill plays absolutely no bearing on this calculation.
The chance of the HQ being a HQ1 is 12/16
The chance of the HQ being a HQ2 is 3/16
The chance of the HQ being a HQ3 is 1/16

Cursed breastplate guy says that he thinks different days of the week and moon phase ADDS to your skill directly, pushing it into higher tiers. I call BS on it, but I've no math to say he's wrong... and the guy has made 5 of those things (supposedly).

And that it's pretty fucking obvious that no day or moonphase can you try a a synth more than 15 above your skill level, but you can simply add a piece of gear and do it. Therefore, full of shit theory, as with all moon/day theories.
