I remember when I went 99->100 clothcraft (argued for the longest time as the most worthless 99-100 out there!) and it took forever as Galateia was so rarely on the AH. All I can say is that you can't really count your progression in terms of time. Look at it in terms of .1's, and merely that.

What are all of the Rank-Up test items to go from Veteran to Expert? So far I only know Cooking (because I am a cook) and Fishing.

Goldsmithing 100-110: Inferno Crystal -> 2x Palladian Brass Ingot

adding questions: i assume palla ore comes from T1 new VW w/ possible ingots from higher tiers. Can anyone confirm this?

I can confirm it does drop from T1 of the new VW and presumably T2 as well, had a friend who luckily has goldsmithing 100 on a mule get the ore during a T1 win farm for CoP VW.

Has anyone done Goldsmithing from 51>100 recently? Trying to find the least painful way to cap, but everything seems expensive as hell.

No, Synergy is still capped at 80. But it appears that you can get free Fewell from Hildolf with the quest "Synergistic Support". I need to test it out again to see if you can get more. (Maybe once a Conquest Tally, not bad if you can get three free Orbs of Fewell weekly.)

Also, you no longer need to do the big quest to get the Synergy Crucible KI.
You simply need to talk to the NPC and you can buy one for 100 gil.

70k, level 48 item is +1 skill,
100k, level 68 item is +1 skill,
150k, level 88 furnishing item is +1 skill when the dominant energy in your mog,
200k furnishing item is moglification,
50k guild point item is useless,
15k synergy stall is +5 skill when the dominant energy in your mog, but does not stack with the +1 furnishing item.

This means that +7 skill from gear (15k synergy stall, level 48 and level 68 wearable items) is the highest most crafts get, correct?

There are latent effect and cooking gears that don't follow these rules.

Is that correct? Because I'm freaking confused.

You get mega-mog from the stall itself. Only other piece I believe you are missing is a number of crafts have a +skill torque piece now such as this: http://www.ffxiah.com/item/10954/alchemst-torque

May be wrong here but I think the 50k GP item may be +1 if it's the only thing in your MH.

Have the new goldsmithing or smithing ores been found anywhere besides vw boxes? I only ask because pretty much every other craft has a material that is available or farmable from mobs.

I'll even take a mining spot as much as that sucks. So far the worms I've tried have not put out, nor did my mining trip to Halvung.

Have you tried Ifrits or Zhayolm? Theres no Kapor log though for kapor lumber, so if theres an outside source for Kapor it'll have to be off a mob. Which worms were you doing? the lv100 ones in gustav? Seeing as how the wyrdstrand drops off the lv100++ crawlers, if SE added an outside source, it would probably be higher level worms. Golems are also a possibility, but its usually always mythril from them. Cant rule them out though.

on topic of Halvung, this fucking Plumbago is pissing me off. The only saving grace is the fact its sells at a pretty hefty amount, albeit slow.

Went straight to Halvung, as the outside mountain has always yielded smithing type ores (iron, adaman, khroma), while inside always gave goldsmithing ores (gold, orichalcum, luminium). Ifrit's is a possibility I suppose, never been there to mine.

Tried the new worms in Gustav, so far only gotten platinum ore at best. The Pygmytoises are dropping adaman ore, not sure what else they may drop (they're a pain to kill on thf). Also tried the worms in Kuftal, but there are so many tigers running around it's almost impossible to focus on worms. Got a few gold ores from those.

Sample sizes are pretty small from the worms, will try those a bit longer before giving up on them.

Really? I checked the new items list on ffxiah...i only saw lumber, not log. Strange. I guess kapor log was used directly in a synth
