Merit job only eh?
Sounds like sub job only comments I used to hear a long time ago.
My LS made good use of my War when I was doing end game content.

I have full fire kit, full mdt, full pdt kits. I have 10/click regen set + movement speed. I have every weapon type capped and spellcasted and I've tanked both nidhogg, aspid, and countless other petty shit as WAR/NIN or WAR/SAM.
Doesn't make it anything that it isn't. It's a great job, but what it excels at is pushing out hard damage quickly. If you want to look at a DD job that also makes a good tank an apoc DRK or amano SAM are better candidates, hands down.
I can wish all I want for WAR to get some native blink ja or non-damage dependent hate tool in addition to voke. Being realistic isn't bad, it's being realistic.
Edit: Really would be super if we could stay on topic with the aftermath from here out.
It helps but it's no 22.5 second stun + sleep that DRK has.
Can also get can also get -45% (?) with aftermath. I have -20% right now with nq harness.
Edit: My current voke macro has +17 in it. So yes, that can be improved upon.
I.R. head/Ritter/Hades+1/Hades+1
AF/I.R. hands/Herc/Mermaid
Cerb +1/Trance/I.R./Hermes
+44 Enm before merits, easily obtainable if you already have Cerb +1 (as I know sath does) and feel like splurging on the Hades +1's.
When your voke is over +20 Enm, and you spam it every 30 seconds, you can generate a decent surplus of VE over the decay rate, and War is one of the few jobs that can really try to cap VE if it tries with damage + high enm Vokes.
It ain't stun or flash though.
Don't forget that Provoke from a WAR main 50+ generates more enmity than from /WAR.
Wait what?

I actually never knew this, unless someone was lying on Wiki. I'm hoping SE wasn't assuming you would be wearing AF Body etc.
You need at LEAST +30 CHR to get that bonus.
Hahahaha.
I'm all for optimization, but when it involves carrying 40 pieces of gears and going through a macro chore every time...fuck that. I would rather slack off and kill 2 more collibri or w/e to make up for the slower kill. I used to care about decimals, but after a while, it start losing its importance versus every other elements (afk, downtime, no pop)
On topic, it's pretty damn interesting, and I wish I had the buff against chariot, but aside this, is it really game breaking like some people seem to imply? It would save you from death occasionally, which is by no mean bad, but if your party is paying attention, it's not like it matter most of the time in serious situation.
It really depends on how you look at "game-breaking". When its properties make it comparable to leading magical and physical defensive tools available to other jobs, I'd say its a pretty big deal.
I can count the number of things that open up new roles and play styles for jobs on one hand. You're setting the bar a bit high.
True enough, but it felt that way when I saw the orgasms earlier in this thread, and seeing people talk about a damage reduction set.
On top of my head, the only game breaking item are gaiters, crimson, hermes, aegis, gjallahorn. Rest are sidegrade of something else.
Aegis changes the game only as much as Bravura does.
Everything Aegis offers you can be found in coral +1 gear and shell V. Same with MT aftermath for magic.
Aegis is far from game breaking. Just think back to Zelphes.
Any tools in the wrong hands will be useless obviously, but compared to the 2nd best shields, there is a huge gap. Dunno, aegis help you directly at what you're trying to do, while on warrior, it feels more like a side bonus.
