Yeah, but building suspense before deceiving your viewer with an unimportant discovery is a good way to piss them off. It doesn't have to be Yin, but it has to be relevant to the story, and Yin would works pretty well at this point if what you want is dramatic effect.

Melfina is in the box. Hei will then have to travel with his oddly mismatched team to the galactic leyline to stop the evil space pirates plans.

Kinda glad to see Hei returning a little to his former self. I didn't mind the 180 personality change until that was all that was left. I guess it might be more interesting to see Hei return bit by bit, and if Yin is indeed in the container I reckon it'll happen quickly.

At least the animation and action is still good, though wtb less mahou shoujo stock footage.

I was asking because from what I read on wiki, the manga cover events that happen one year after season 1, and I figured it would deal with this.


And why would Yin betray him? Even if it appears this way, Hei should learn from his mistakes (with amber), because it was pretty much the same situation. There is no way they build Yin character and turn her into a backstabber...I just can't picture it.

The end of episode 3, when mao asked hei what happened to yin, hei answered
"Ore wa Yin o...ano onna o korosu"

It's not really certain that the whole "ano onna" refer to Yin, or someone else, considering Mao mentioned that both he and Hei is currently working under the person Mao refers as "ano onna" as well.

My guess is that she was held hostage or something by the so called "ano onna" which forces him to do her biddings, because there really is no reason for Hei to work under anyone. Of course, Yin is also a doll, so it's entirely possible that her persona can be overwritten by something else and turned her into the villain or something, but I think they're just being vague to piss me and anyone who likes Yin off.

Seriously, the mahou shoujo is not the loli I've eagerly waited S2 for.

This is a far cry from the reunion with Yin I've been waiting for...though it was kinda bittersweet that Hei can't see her apparition anymore now that he's no longer a contractor :/

It's gonna suck if the rest of the series focuses on Suou coming on to Hei now...but at least Hei's making progress getting out of the Heibo mode.

I don't think he planned on killing her, it seemed like he did not know what was in the container, and once he found out it was Yin he stopped the whole thing. The pacing seems more fit to a 24-26 episode season than 12 at this point though.

Also, I don't see this series ending with Hei dead like I did initially. I also don't see it ending without him getting some sort of power back, if not his own. Would be pretty weird otherwise

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I'm really enjoying the depressing mood this season, and Suou/Hei team is enough to keep me interested. I understand where the hate come from, but I generally enjoy that kind of character, so it works for me.

I really wish they would stop with the transformation though, it's fucking awkward how she stop time to summon her gun in the middle of a fight. And there is also the flamboyant travestite and his son that I could live without.

Well, the French madame he was working for did remind Hei that he said he would be able to follow through with it when he was working for her.

Then again, it could be his emotion getting the best of him for no longer being a contractor, though he does that kind of shit all the time even when he was a contractor.

And yeah, mahou shoujo animation really had to go, it really has no point being there even as fanservice.

God, I just want the DVD to come out already so I can watch the OVA that fills the gap, the trailer has so much Hei vs Syndicate and Hei x Yin action I was actually expecting the season 2 to be filled with when it was announced.

Well, Yin did kill someone in front of her, and she probably isn't happy with how it turned out. Probably why she kicked the puddle.

haha yeah, although reallllly fast, I think Suou is falling for Hei in some way. Even if it's not real love, she has feelings. I thought it was really cute, her kicking ghost-Yin lol. I believe it's like what Athas said, I wouldn't put it past Hei to lie just to find Yin.

Something weird's going on though, in Season 1, I don't remember observation ghosts being able to physically do anything. Dolls didn't exactly have a strong will of their own either, although they had a small bit, not enough to kill someone. What if Shion is able to control any doll of his will and is able to enhance their powers. Like he was able to "see" their house in real time in ep 1, to guide Suou, was also able to talk to her telepathically. Sounds a bit like doll powers and would explain why the mom was killed, to protect his sister.

While I still like this season, I miss all the undercover spy action of Hei

If the trailer for the OVA is any indication, Yin could have undergone some change over the 2 years gap, since they mentioned something along the line of "soon he would not be able to control her"

After the Hell's Gate affair, Yin's apparition changed into the humanoid form, so it's not impossible that she gradually gained enough power to turn into something strong enough that they codenamed her after the shinto ruler of underworld.

Here's what I think is going on:

Yin was referred to as the "Anti-contractor weapon". I think that, somehow, she became a contract breaker. I also think that the contracts are more complicated than just awakening with power ala Heroes. I think there actually is some separate entity involved with whom they MAKE the contracts (possibly not consciously).

Once the contract is broken by Yin, I think their own powers are prone to turn against them, or at least go out of control. As such, I don't think it was Yin that killed that contractor (not directly at least). I think it was her own power. That Yin's specter happens to be connected to water is, I think, a coincidence (read: planned by the writers to throw off the viewers).

The reason Hei's power didn't kill him when his contract was broken is either because it was never HIS contract, or because of the meteor fragment (or whatever it's called).

It's possible (thought a bit more far fetched) that the fragment redirected Hei's power into Suou (or did she awaken before that moment? I don't remember)

She awoke after the amulet absorbed the power. What you said seems to make sense, if Michiru's power went haywire it might have killed her. It does seem like a set up by the writers to make us think Yin killed her (though still a possibility - Dolls never did that before, so she could be special) and to make Norio think that Suou killed his mom.

Overall it's getting better, Hei is slowly returning to his old self and the animation/fights are just as good. Though for a regular human (apparently) Hei can do some pretty radical shit, though I doubt just being a contractor makes you stronger in the areas your contract doesn't affect.
