PS3 online technical question

Hey all,

I've had my PS3 about 3 weeks now and I seem to be having trouble with the online stuffs. Basically, every game I've played with online elements hasn't worked out at all. Little Big Planet I've never seen other players except for one time, when I saw a small glimpse of another persons sackboy just before it disconnected them from my game. Tried to play RE4 coop online with a friend, multiple times and it kept kicking one of us off randomly and for the 2-3mins we were connected, there was quite heavy lag. On Demon Souls I can't ever get summoned on it by another player as it always fails connecting. I dunno what to do about it but I'm disapointed so far 'cause I can't seem to do *anything* online with the PS3 and as far as I know there's nothing wrong with my connection, I can download stuff from the store, use the friends messeging etc. I play FFXI and a few PC FPS's online no problem.

Sounds like your router isn't allowing the ports. Also it could be an external firewall if your in a dorm or something? Need some more infos me thinks. If you wanna PM me your aims or msn or something would be quicker responses

heard there was a problem with the latest firmware for my reuter so downgraded to a previous version and seems to be working :D Hopefully it stays working.

If you have these problems again go to connection test in the network settings under System settings, with a router you should be getting NAT2, if you're getting NAT3 then the PS3 isn't receiving all incoming connections due to blocked ports or other problems.

I recently switched/upgraded from a Linksys WRT54G to the newer WRT54G2 (now with more CISCO!) and have always had more luck after making sure the PS3 specific ports are forwarding.

Ports to Open:

PlayStation®Network
TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223, 10070 - 10080
UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, 10070

I know that I can't get online at all with COD4 without them being forwarded. I also saw a much better online connection with Demon's Souls after recently setting these ports up on my new router.

Hope you mean RE5. Because you can't play four online.

Had this problem too. Easiest solution is just to add your PS3 to the DMZ.
