I was catching a starcraft match or two in the wee hours today when I was reminded of the epic finale to the most recent Winner's League. It got me thinking about other epic moments in other games at the professional level and I came up with three right away that I thought I'd share with you.
Shinshan Bank Winner's League 2009 Finals (03-28-2009)
TLPD - League Information - 2009 Shinhan Bank Winners League
The two main players in this story are sKyHigh and Jaedong.

Jaedong

The league format is a two teams play to best of 7, and the winner of the previous game gets to stay to face the next player sent out by the losing team. Think of it like pokemon, once you've expended 4 players your team loses. For the finals Hwaseung OZ decides to send out their star player, Jaedong (Zerg), right off the bat. He is the Michael Jordan of starcraft at this point in time, almost nobody stands a chance. Jaedong makes quick work of the first 3 players including CJ Entus' best hope for defeating Jaedong, Effort (Zerg). In his 4th match he faces sKyHigh (Terran), who is CJ's second best hope at defeating Jaedong. Jaedong plays very aggressively, using a rush build under which he expects to quickly defeat sKyHigh in the first 4-5 minutes of the match. This backfires and jaedong is overwhelmed a bit later by skyhigh's superior economy. It wasn't over yet though, even though Jaedong had lost skyhigh still had to win 3 more games against other players from Hwaseung OZ. Not one to buckle under intense pressure sKyHigh plays three amazing games to take home the championship for his team, even though Hwaseung decided to save their best hope for defeating skyhigh for the final match, Hiya (Terran), when skyhigh would be worn down and weary.

Intel Extreme Masters World of Warcraft 3v3 Grand Finals, HON vs. SK-Asia
HON is the clear underdog here. Just watch this, fast forward to 3 minutes in if you must to see the moment, the announcers do a pretty good job of describing whats going on I think. In before lolWoW as an esport, it is what it is. Don't be afraid to turn it off or fast forward once the good part is over, you're not missing anything but a bunch of hide-and-go-seek which eventually has to come down to a judge's decision based upon who did the most total damage.

Evo 2004, Daigo(Ryu) vs. Justin Wong(Chun-Li) SF3 - Third Strike
If you've ever played a respectable fighter you know that blocked attacks still do a small amount of damage to you, so you can respect someone pulling off something like this while sitting on less than a blocked hit worth of HP, especially at the professional level. I've never followed the fighter scene much so someone is either going to come in here and lament or praise this choice probably.

Those are my favorites, please share your own with pics/youtube or anything else you deem necessary to illustrate why you think that moment was amazing.
