Windows 7 Problems (Nothing really major)

Before I start im at work so I can't give you more information on my situation right now.

Okay so I installed Windows 7 last night and I didn't really get time to monkey with it (I'm working alot of overtime right now) but I had a bit of an issue before windows 7 starts it comes to the boot menu but ive never seen a boot menu look like the way it does, im assuming its just part of the windows 7 look. Anyways i've never had to get rid of a boot menu before and I came across these directions...

Go into Control Panel, double-click "System", click the "Advanced" tab, and under "Startup and recovery" click "Settings". Then in the "Default operating system" box select Operating System. This will not get rid of the option to boot "Other Operating Systems" but will make it boot the Operating System you choose by default.

Is this going to fix my problem and also 1 last request anyone with windows 7 installed on your computer does windows 7 have the format.exe command like previous versions of windows? I thought if I couldn't get rid of it trying to boot up windows xp the way it does I would just create a boot disk but for some reason it doesn't want to let any program write to my floppy drive (ive checked the disk is unlocked). So I thought id manually put format.exe on the drive if push comes to shove.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I've installed Win7 about 10 times since beta and I've never seen this.

Did you format the disk during install?

It never prompted me to reformat the disk although it did come to a screen different than id seen before and showed my drives/partitions and I selected to delete the partition there and reformat and it did do it my drive is almost completely clean (providing the space needed for the OS) its just it gives me the option to go back to windows xp before it fully starts up. I tried going into XP just for kicks and its missing drivers for xp and it won't start. Windows ran flawlessly last night its just a bit of an inconvenience to have to select windows 7 every time I boot up. I think it may not have partitioned it properly because it went super fast, thats another reason I asked about the Format.exe if its inside windows 7 because id like to just reformat my drive the ol fashioned way.

    Thanks for the help.

When you boot from CD to start Windows 7 install you get an option of where you want to install it(after you pick new install not upgrade). Click the drive you want to install it on and at the bottom right theres a button named 'advance' it opens up with an option to 'format' the drive ~ Click it and everything on that drive is completely gone and you can then install Win7 like bran new...

I cant believe I remembered all that...

Were you trying to upgrade your OS or do a clean install?

Never upgrade. It'll never work right.

If you uncheck the box next to where it says "Time to display list of operating systems" under the Default OS option, it should remove the ability to select which OS to boot from. However if you did a real full wipe, the option to boot to xp shouldn't be there at all, unless you have it installed on a second hard drive or partition.
