    A response to my response

A page or two ago, I posted in a "Building a gaming rig" thread of some sort, and said I am building my own gaming rig. I wrote down the hardware I chose and got some feed back on what worked and what needed improvement. I am now updated with the list and want to know if this is the best I can get. I'm not looking to Crossfire or SLI though, since not many games run that yet. I have no worries for cost or anything of the sort. Here is the updated list of things I chose to pick out. I am not looking to be price effective, just looking for the best possible.

what is that a fking drumset? lol

Seriously though, the only thing I would get is probably ati 5870/50 instead unless you want to wait for the new nvidia cards. You could also save a little bit of money going with a cheaper motherboard.

Looks all top notch to me except the video card unless like he said above, you're waiting for the new nvidia cards. Maybe get the black edition WD Caviar

imo 12gb of ram is overkill and 24 is just wtf. If you fill up all 6 slots also, it's harder to tweak/oc the timings from what I hear. Although you say you're not concerned about money, I think it wouldn't be wise to spend extra for the Extreme edition i7 when then i9s are slated to come out sometime within a year, but that's up to you I guess.

I am taking that "money is no object" bit seriously based on
    The V1 Flagship:
    Base Price: $2600.00

Yeah. If you are going to have the seat from a Porsche (might as well see if they can steal one from the McLaren MP4-12C, though) as your desk chair, you can buy whatever components you want, as often as you want.

Instead of the Logitech speakers, go with Bose. They are disgustingly expensive but will craft a system specifically for whatever space your computer is going to be in, similar to how they custom wire cars.

I have the case, its a little weak on the front end and wont keep your system cool with heavy overclocking (air only). And with all fans at 100% you will hear it (wife complains at night). However, I still love it. I keep system cool with moderate OC so I think you will like it. I just wanted to warn you you might have to return a few cases before you get a thermaltake that isnt broken cause their front ends are weak. (If your wanting to heavy OC, there is another thermaltake with 2x as many fans i used for my friends pc. the multicolor fans have more power and just look great, id recommend this one but dont have a link.)

I chose the motherboard that was one step down from yours and it runs wonderfully however it isnt structurally sound for a full sized fan. I built my friends pc with your MB and it is such an improvement. good choice its worth the money.

your processor. I was very tempted to go with the highest option but in the end settled for the 920 and with the OCing im performing better than the non OC 975. This is entirely your choice. you cant go wrong either way.

graphics card. your buying evga MB, might as well use the EVGA gpu. to me it just made sense to use the same company as logic tells me they will work well together. However, I couldnt find a good deal for you with EVGA in the 2 mins i spared looking (but money isnt an issue right!?).

Memory, I went with corsair dominator, no regrets.

Id recommend raid 0 with two 10k rpm WD hardrives until ssd becomes more stable. If you dont mind the risk your gonna love the HD performance. its beyond anything your used to.

everything else is just what you like. sounds like your going to enjoy your gaming.

they stopped making the original now you gatta ether buy that hideous excuse of a keyboard or go for the 200$ g19

personal id suggest trying to find a newish original G15 on ebay if you can but last time i looked a brand new 1 never opened was 150+.iam hppy mine still works after all these years its a real sturdy keyboard its survived alot of abuse.befor this keyboard i had gone threw 20+ in 3 years now this G15 has lasted me 2+ years and theres only 2 problems with it threw all that time 1 of the LED's flicks a bit and the button to turn the LCD on/off stopped working last week so there on perminitly now witch nither is all that of a big deal.

So if you can find 1 of the original G15's grab it there worth the cash

At least they still sell the G11. An LCD screen can't be worth $130.

That fan you linked is an 80mm, don't know what you're going to be using it for since not many things use 80mm fans anymore, but be warned that thing sounds like a fucking vacuum. I used one of those on my HSF in my old Athlon XP rig like 6 years ago, it was just retardedly loud.

That PSU is not very cost effective considering you can get equal or better PSUs for less. Check out Corsair's offerings or something like Antec's Signature line.

Keyboards, if you are indeed looking for the best and don't care about all those gimmicks, get a Realforce (also available in a tenkeyless version, just about anything on that site is good though). I own some variation of every board on Elitekeyboards, and simply put, rubber dome membrane boards just don't compare. Sure it doesn't have fancy backlighting (learn to type), an LCD (I have a G13, and think it's pointless), or media keys (autohotkey if you really need them), but the build quality and key feel is just top notch.

Eh, I'd just say to go with a decent amp or reciever + good speakers. Not "computer speakers".

IMO, the build in general is spending money for the sake of it, rather than keeping conscious of the actual performance for the dollar. I mean, if you're a millionaire, then sure, but otherwise why not just put the money aside for i9 upgrades in 2010 or whatnot?

I don't get it.. you're willing to waste $700 on an i7-975 rather than getting a 920 and overclocking, but when it comes to your video card you not only scale back to a GTX275 (instead of a GTX295 or Radeon 5870) but you don't even get a top quality version made by BFG or XFX?

Also the case you picked out can't hold 80mm fans.

    Newegg.com - ENERMAX MAGMA UC-MA12 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans

Very quiet fans while still maintaining a good amount of airflow. Easy to clean too. I'd shop around though unless you manage to get free shipping on them from Newegg from something else you're shipping.

I updated these two things based on your guys' responses. I might wait for the i9 but I don't think the motherboard I picked out supports i9's. So I went with the most powerful processor they had that will suit the board. Any more advice you have for me? I like the G15 keyboard, and while the Realforce is nice, I don't like not having the characters on my keys. Just a personal preference.

If you can spare the horizontal space and don't mind the loss of the LCD screen (I've never missed it personally), go with the G11 instead of the G15.
