I think it's pretty obvious who's gonna be using this WS, but it seems like the Light Shantotto will be in a fight somehow too considering the animation of the Light WS.

Anyone else annoyed at the shallowness of these expansions? Fetch quests aside, the main story lines so far have been predictable, even in their twists. I have had no sense of wonder, terror, or intrigue thus far, as much as I have tried to enjoy the stories to the fullest. Something tells me we're in for more of the same in the upcoming expansion.

Concept looks great on paper - an expansion centered around Shantotto! But just seeing the light/dark shantotto bugs me. Making a "dark" shantotto seems to me like another cheap narrative trick. Any insight this expansion could give us into Shantotto's eccentricities, like her nefarious laugh, are most likely going to be wasted in favor of a Shantotto who lost control of her power and created a "dark" side. It's not a stretch to say that we would enjoy fighting a Shantotto who had really, truly lost it, and had collapsed morally under the weight of her own ambition.

Of course, we COULD get just that, but how much do you want to bet we find out there is a giant moogle-shaped crystal behind it all?

Considering these add-ons are by the person who did Zilart and haven't touched FFXI since Zilart, of course it will seem 'shallow' because it's basically tying into the original storylines (Vanillia and Zilart) of FFXI which was pretty 'shallow' when compared to something more expansive like CoP/ToAU/WoTG.
