    So... Aion players....

How is this game? Is it truly worth paying for? I played the beta up to level 15 and it didn't seem very fun past that point. I could use wings for like 1 minute, and only inside towns basically. Is it basically a korean grindfest that you pay for? Which classes are OP(considered)? Is there anyway to not have to pay for the $50 the game actually costs? When do I get infinite flight time(excluding pvp area)? How is the pvp aspect? How would you compare this game to WoW(you had to have played both to an extent, not just a newly dinged 80 in blues)?

Answering these questions would be great, thanks.

It's a grindfest right now. Not as bad as Lineage II, but still a korean grinder.

OP classes for pvp are anything ranged dmg based really. Since they dont have to deal with horrible server lag and rubber banding. Also the game hates melee classes, ranged can solo elites usually.

You dont get infinite flight time, its kind of lame, you can get gear with +flight time and new wings that add to it, but you also have to pop potions to stay in the air.

Pvp involves ganking right now. Getting super high on the rank chart is usually done by pve grinding elites and avoiding any pvp combat you know you can't win 110%.

Compared to WoW its the opposite spectrum. Drops off bosses are very few and far between, you'll see a boss that took you 30mins - 4hrs to get to, not drop a single item or even money. It makes gear rare, but a pain in the ass if you arnt blessed with St Patricks luck. Makes crafting useful, but again.. you need fluxes for crafting and those are rare drops as well.

The game is far more stable and better then WoW was at the start, but currently its a nice change from easymode that WoW has become but not as great as Pre-BC WoW at the end yet. I hope it gets better, xp patch is going to be nice.

I have an FFXI account. If I want a time sink, I'll play it.

I'm looking for a fun, sort of easy mode game. WoW is fun. The game is fairly balanced. It doesn't take retarded amounts of nerd rage and time to get something done(for the most part). I can ding 80 in a little under 2 or 3 weeks if I play a lot.

Aion seems alright, but what you're telling me is that the game is not really worth paying for. It has fun aspects, but limits you to how much you can enjoy them - which is completely moronic. Taking 30 minutes to 4 hours to just GET to a boss is also completely stupid.

How are the player abilities? Is it really all cool and flashy? Sounds like this game isn't working picking up.

    1) Game starts at level 25, before then it's just a WoW like MMO where you quest get exp and grind. After that you can pvp, go to the other sides areas and pretty much either go the PVE or PVPVE

    2) This game is a grind anyone who says it is delusional, put I don't know what it is but the grind is fine, and it's actually fun and makes you an ass ton of money.

3)Play the Chinese Aion if you wanna play the game in earlier stages (1.2 I think it's on?) don't think that is what it is like though as we are now in 1.5 and some things have changed. But it is nice to get to grips with the combat/game system

    4) You will never get infinite flight time, the lore behind the game means you can only fly when "Aether" is around, and it is only around in certain areas in the world, and the abyss is full of it (which is why you can fly there 24/7)

    5) The PVP is fun, there are overpowered classes but I think all classes when played right can beat another class. Fortress Raids can be annoying, they crash you unless you have a shit PC (ironic really) due to some 2GB thing implemented in the game and when you go over it, the game will crash. Someone more computer literate may be able to explain this better.

    6) Comparing this game to WoW is a retarded thing to do, and if you say that to anyone you will probably get the good old "LOLOLLO u iz wow fanboi" however I did play both so I will try and do it to my best. The game is good, if you want a wow clone where getting to max level is easy and loot comes by and you have pretty much cleared the game in 2 months then this isn’t the game for you. If you want raids of instances to get loot, this game also isn’t for you, the only raid type things are fortress sieges, and world bosses @50 (think Kings FFXIesc) all of the instances are 6 man.

This game isn't new though and there is a lot of information about if you look in the right places, it has been out for 1.5 years in Korea, and there are a lot of sites giving information about it better then I or anyone here could. If you want my opinion, play the Chinese Aion, get to 30, and see if the game is for you

Let's just say that if you wanted things on a silver platter(read WoW), it's not your game.

I'm really just looking for a decent game with a lot to do. In WoW I get saved to every instance the first 2 days, and in turn have to wait an entire 4 or 5 days to basically do anything again. I AFK above the well on my gladiator wyrm and when I find a competent healer to follow me around so we will always win I do some BGs. Other than that, I'm quite bored with the game. The only problem is that I'm afraid to try something new because I'm so stuck on WoW. It's not a terrible game, and not entirely boring. There are multiple ways to get gear, and the amount of impact that gear makes is very optimal compared to recent gear.

I have an unreal amount of time on my hands at the moment, and I literally wake up everyday and follow the same routine. Toast, AFK in WoW, go back and forth from TV, BG, WoW, exercise, WoW, oh hey look it's 5 PM and more people are online. I'll play WoW!

I play MMOs not just to play a video game, but to socialize with people. Is that sad? Seems like it. I have an xbox 360 with multiple games, but I only like playing with friends. It's the same thing on WoW. I immediately assume you are an idiot/baddie if you aren't in my guild, or a decent one for that matter. I don't want to socialize with a horrible player.

Anyway, it sounds like I just need to play this game for myself. Like I've already said - I made it to level 15 in the beta. It didn't really seem very promising. I enjoy both PvP and PvE aspects of MMOs equally as much. I do one thing, get bored, do another. Such is the cycle of life.

Also, ranged are the most 'OP' class? How's the summoner compared to ranger compared to sorcerer? How difficult is it to heal massive groups when PvPing?

to put it in perspective, i played ffxi since it came out in north america. i find aion to be a breath of fresh air, and its completely different than what i'm used to. Maybe i'm different, but grinding in aion for me isn't bad, but i'm very goal oriented. i can sit and grind fort guards for 10 hours in a row as long as i keep my eyes on the prizes(abyss gear). The game doesn't start till at least 25, and i wouldn't say until at least the 30's when your character/class start getting your really solid abilities. Aside from the fact if you have a decent computer and the graphics will have moments of taking your breath away, its worth a try. worst case, you've probably spent 50 dollars on things that are a lot shittier.

What happened to having a FFXI account? Either way. I didn't read anyone elses post because a lot of them were wall'o'texts but Aion is a decent game to just pick up and play for a few hours then you can log off and play WoW in the evenings. You wont get anywhere fast doing so but it still can be fun.

I still have it. FFXI sucks, and is very boring. I'm not looking to go between games, and I'm certainly not looking to pay 25$ a month.

Solution: Roll an Asmodian Templar or Cleric on Triniel and play with us. :3

I actually played Cema's account during the beta. Why would you ask me to come play with you guys, though? Especially after how much you hated me in FFXI, lol.

You were a douche over gear. Gear only comes from 6 mans or Abyss gear really, so it means you have nothing to bitch over! Cema actually plays on Triniel with me.

How hard is healing big groups without an addon like grid or xperl?

It isn't bad with a Templar tank that can keep multiple mobs off you. Healing aggro is a bit heavy for a Gladiator to efficiently tank well. Clerics can take one hell of a beating though.
