    Raiding Moonkin, halp.

So here's the thing. This is my current gear:

    The World of Warcraft Armory

It seems pretty good to me, albeit the neck piece, shoulders and trinkets. Not much I can really do about any of those, since the Wail of Val'kyr still needs to go to two others before I get it, and the shoulders off beasts never decide to fucking drop.

But I'm not worried about the couple of gear pieces I'm missing. I think with my current gearset my numbers should be higher. I'm competing with people that do anywhere from 9k-6k every fight and I usually fall around 5.6k.

I don't have a WMO to show you from last night but here is one from about a week ago.

World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis

I was wondering if there is anything special I can do with my rotation, if I should respec, or what, to just push higher numbers.

    My current rotation is

MF, IS, wrath, wrath, wrath til I see nature's grace then preemptively starfire for the eclipse proc, then starfire, starfire, starfire til I see nature's grace then preemptively wrath for the eclipse proc, and refresh dots whenever they drop. I usually starfall at the beginning of a fight, or whenever there is need for aoe, and I use my trees at the beginning too and just keep reusing them as they come up.

I'd love any help from hardcore moonkins on this. I've read the EJ threads and stuff and they all seem to say to do what I'm doing, but I want to be like top 5 not top 10 dps in my guild

May be related to cooldown management, first thing I notice is only 1 trinket usage in 3.5 minute twins fight, 2 on a 7+ min XT fight, 1 on whole NrB fight, etc.

True, if I pop my living flame at the beginning of NRB it would be up for 2 Jorms which is when we use heroism. Also, on Twins we're supposed to save our trinkets/cd/etc for when darkbane twin's pacts which is why it would have only been used once there...

    sounds advice, thanks

Cooldown management will help, you need to be mindful of the Eclipse internal cooldowns too so you don't switch spells prematurely. Nature's Grace is just a free haste boost, it doesn't affect your crit (and thus has no bearing on starting the Eclipse buffs). Keep dots up always, even if you're mid eclipse, dots have more impact on your dps than losing a few seconds of eclipse time.

After your initial cooldowns wrath until eclipse-starfire until eclipse-repeat while refreshing dots and using CDs as necessary/called for.

Unless you really need the mana management from Moonglow, you can eek out a little more damage with Imp Moonfire. The critical chance will actually be relevant with 2t9, but the damage improvement happens regardless. I'm not a fan of Gale Winds either because who gives a shit about hurricane trash pack damage, so you could put the last point from moonglow+those two in Genesis for a little more IS/MF damage.

Two addons that most moonkin swear by are SquawkAndAwe (helps manage cooldowns and monitors eclipse ICD, though not so much an issue since you switch lunar/solar pretty rhythmically) and WiseEclipse (automatically cancels eclipse buff if the spell you're casting won't land in time, thereby getting the next eclipse phase up that much sooner), so may check those out if you haven't.

definitely going to take your moonglow suggestion, it should help a LOT, as well as the wise eclipse! I had S&A and then it seemed to slow down my game a ton when the new patch came out so I stopped using it. Maybe a new version is out? I'll have to check.

Thanks though very very helpful w/ the spec.

Consider carrying Potions of Speed around for burn phases too (again assuming you don't need mana potions); baking another ~15% haste in on bloodlust is pretty awesome (or using on a 2nd burn after bloodlust, varies)

Edit: And hyperspeed accelerators for your gloves, since you're an engie.

Curious... I always pop Potion of Wild Magic during Heroism/Bloodlust... would Potion of Speed up my numbers more? o_oa (doing about a solid 4k DPS in 2T8/T9 and H/TOC-5+Ulduar gear)

(I'd link my armory, but I logged out in Feral gear this morning.)

If you've got enough haste that your spells are dropping below the GCD in cast time then no, but that takes a LOT of haste to accomplish.

I was thinking of hyperspeed accelerators but wasn't sure how much a dps increase they'd do, and no one ever seems to have them so I don't want to be the weird guy with the weird enchant that no one has ever heard of :X

I dunno for sure cause I don't have an engie, but a friend has about as much haste as you and still uses them.

Your rotation seems fine. Since its already been mentioned, get Sqwak and Awe alone with WiseEclipse. The latter will help you proc Solar Eclipse much better as it will cancel Lunar Eclipse if Starfire finishes its cast with less time it takes to cast another, procing Solar because of the crit. I see you're rocking 2T8/2T9. Its so hard to pass up the T8 bonus until T10.

For comparison, I pull about 6.5k+ in this
    The World of Warcraft Armory
Only thing I would recommend is getting rid of those trinkets and replace them with Dragon Soul/Broodmother/Reign of Living or Dead. Not really a fan of hit trinkets.

I macro'd both starfire and wrath to proc my trinkets so that will keep them up more often I think too

What you can do if it's knocking you past GCD is just separate your potion and glove enchant from hero into a different trinket usage, will add up almost to hero strength giving you basically 2 full runs of hero + trinket cooldowns.
