Tatum Bell Thinks His UFL Team Would Handily Beat Tampa Bay



As we near the halfway point of the NFL season, there is a slew of really bad NFL teams stinking up the joint. The 0-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers obviously qualify. That means it's time for a bunch of delusional people to start making claims about how so-and-so could beat the Bucs. You know, college teams, "my rec league team," high school teams and, of course, UFL teams. Usually these claims are tongue-in-cheek, but Tatum Bell of the UFL's Florida Tuskers seems pretty serious.
Michael Pittman, a running back for the Tuskers who used to play for the Bucs, said something about how some of his teammates probably thought they could beat the Bucs. Bell immediately said he was one of them. When given a hypothetical score of 24-14 (Tuskers over Bucs), Bell went a bit too far.

"That's how much credit you give our defense?" Bell said, smiling. "I see more than that. I see our offense putting up more than that and I see our defense shutting them down for less than that."

Of course you guys could, Tatum. That's why you are playing in the UFL, not the NFL, right? By choice?

It's good to be confident, but sometimes a little reality check would work.

The Buccaneers scored 21 points on the Cowboys, 20 on the Bills, 14 on the Eagles and 21 on the Panthers. But, you know, I'm sure the mighty Tuskers are better defensively than those four teams. I'm sure they could easily handle the talented Kellen Winslow and Antonio Bryant. I'm sure they have to deal with tackling players as talented as Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams in the UFL. You know, the league where J.P. Losman is their biggest star.

Not that there's anything wrong with the UFL. There isn't. But it's not even remotely in the ballpark of the NFL in terms of talent. Any NFL team would beat a UFL All-Star team. It wouldn't be close. The people running the league likely wouldn't even argue that at this point.

I think they should set up an exhibition game. The only problem is that poor Tatum would probably start stealing Bucs' luggage after his Tuskers lost.

"I have been looking at my stats compared to Roy E. Williams' stats over there with the Cowboys," Owens said Wednesday at the Buffalo Bills' facility, "and my goal is to have better stats than him by the end of the season."
Owens has 18 catches for 242 yards while Williams is clipping along at 12 catches for 230 yards.

"Just keep working hard, keep looking at the Roy Williams stats," Owens added. "As long as I am doing better than him I am good."

Denver over Baltimore-- the Ravens D isn't playing up to it's usual self, and Denver's O-Line may be the best in the game after the Colts.

Houston over Buffalo-- Houston's offense is prolific, Andre Johnson or no Andre Johnson, and anyone calling the Bills underrated needs to pass the hit along. They're as mind-numbingly mediocre as ever.

Chicago over Cleveland-- Even Cutler can't screw this one up all by his lonesome.

Dallas over Seattle-- No Walter Jones? Dallas is over-rated, but they aren't bad enough to lose to this Seapigeons team.

Jets over Miami-- I really, really, really want Miami to win. If McDaniels team were playing as sloppy as the Jets, there'd be absolutely no praise coming his way. But Rex is in NY. Fuck East Coast Bias; the guy's over-rated... but I think they can handle Miami on Sunday. I hope I'm wrong here.

Indianapolis over San Francisco-- Alex Smith is going to come crashing down. Backup QBs have a tendency to do well in their first game-- look at Fitzpatrick's first game as a Ram. The Colts will be prepared for him, and murder him when he tries to make it a shoot-out.

Giants over Philly-- No Westbrook = bad times in Philly. They need him a lot more than McChunky Soup.

Detroit over St. Louis-- Detroit's actually got a worse record than their play reflects; they've played tough competition. The Rams, at 0-7, actually have a better record than their play reflects.

San Diego over Oakland-- As much as I'd love to see Seymore drive a knee into Phillip River's cock-sucking face, I don't think it'll happen.

Jacksonville over Tennessee-- If the switch to Young were Fisher's idea, I'd go with the Titans, but owners stepping in generally doesn't bode well. The Titans are a mess everywhere, so I don't see Young helping matters.

Green Bay over Minnesota-- All the Vikings need to do is shove Adrian Peterson down the Packer's throats. But I don't think Brett Favre Brett Favre Brett Favre will be able to resist the lure of trying to destroy his old team on their own field personally... and the interception king of the NFL will show that he hasn't retired, either.

Arizona over Carolina-- This one kind of scares me. It seems like a no brainer, but Delhomme has an historic tendency to pull massive games out of his ass at times like these. Still, the Cardinals are a much better, more complete team and their rushing D is more than ready to shut down any attempts to keep the ball out of Jakes hands.

New Orleans over Atlanta-- Atlanta needs it more, but so did San Diego a couple weeks ago. Should be the best game of the week, though.

Just saying - the "omg Adrian Petersen that's all they have to do give him the ball" is kinda...wut. 25 carries for 55 yards is terrible - and they were playing us with Clay Matthews and BJ Raji not playing much because of injuries, and without our best run-stuffing safety Atari Bigby.

I'm not saying Green Bay will stuff him -that- hard again, but they did do it once already.
