Then I'll get around to it after I get through the first 3 Horus Heresy books.

Cannot recommend this enough if you like Sanderson.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

I'm about 100 pages in and it's already dropping bombs with the history lessons of Scadrial. Making me question the Cosmere as a whole. Probably finish it over the weekend here.

Good news is I picked up Morning Star. Bad news... hardcover and won't match my paperbacks for the first two books #FWP. Saving it for my plane trip next week.

Did they only release hardcover, or paperback as well? Really annoying when a series makes that change partway through. It's the reason why I still haven't read new Mistborn 1&2, and why I ended up pirating the last Dresden Files book until the paperback came out. The only time I bought a hard book like that was when the last Wheel of Time book came out. And then, I still ended up buying the paperback to replace it once that came out.

Hardcover and digital for Morning Star. I think it's a 9 month turnaround for paperback? I waited for the last Dresden book as well because everything else I have is paperback.

And Bands of Mourning was really good. Freakin made me buy my first e-book via google-play. I'm an impatient man that can't wait for his Cosmere Short Story collection he's releasing in the fall.

Don't forget the Mistborn Novella you read right after Bands of Mourning :D That was so good. It's only like 6$.

Ok, I need a solid read. Is The Bands of Mourning connected to the original Mistborn trilogy? Do I need to read The Alloy of Law and Shadows of Self prior to this?

Alloy of law not so much. That's a standalone that introduces the principle characters, the idea of Twinborn (a misting + ferring combined.) That's skimmable. Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning, you got some major links to the original trilogy. You have to read them together because Harmony has some serious shit brewing in both books.

And yea I'm reading Secret History right now. My god(s). Don't read that until after Bands of Mourning.

^ Great, thanks. I just finished The Blacksmith's Son by Michael Manning. Not what I was hoping to get out of it, but I usually take chances on books so eh.

EDIT: Went to DL this and noticed that Calamity comes out in a few days. I have a soft spot for The Reckoners series so not sure if I will start this before or just wait till I finish Calamity.

Bought the Mistborn trilogy awhile back and I am stuck right in the middle of Well of Ascension. It's so slow and I'm tired of all this talk about when this or that army will attack. Please somebody tell me it gets better.

It gets better. I'm not a Sanderson scholar, but in his older work iirc its pretty common for him to have large blocks of inaction that just slow things down.

I've read all of Manning's books and I really like how well fleshed-out the magic system is. He has 8 or so books out now, and for the most part I liked them all. I do think he's getting better with each successive book (he self-publishes and wasn't even a full-time author until the last year or two).
