    For Warhammer 40K people;

I went to a Barnes and Noble today and there was a new Eisenhorn book out called The Magos.
Half of it is short stories and the other is a story that follows the original Eisenhorn trilogy. Not sure where it fits in with the Raven and Belquin books, though.

For years I've been chided by my architecture friends for never reading Devil in the White City - doubly so because I live here. I can finally shut them up. This book is giving my architecture nerdy nerves a tingling.

Tough to say; there are still a ton of awesome sequences involving Whiskeyjack, Karsa Orlong, Trull, Rake, Cotilion + Shadowthrone, etc. but it's not a series for everyone. Very dry "high fantasy" prose for long stretches with some plot lines that are tough to churn through.

Went on a Sanderson binge over the last couple of weeks. Mistborn trilogy phase 1 done and due to some of the less than favorable reviews on the second phase, moved on the Stormlight Archive. Have to say, Way of Kings started off kind of slow but the payoff was worth it. On to WoR.

Warbreaker might be a better book to read first. It's not pivotal at all to the book but there is a link between it and Stormlight Chronicles that may make you appreciate the latter more by the third book.

Started City of Stairs. It was either that or The Fifth Season. I picked City because it's shorter lol

@Wulf - I just grinded through Karsa's back story. I didn't care much about at first but I was dissapointed when it jumped back to present. That seems to happen alot with this series. I went with House of Chains which I believe is in the order of release.

@Gab - I enjoyed the second era as much as the first. It's more of a buddy cop. There's more coming for Scadrial. I think maybe even another era/trilogy afer the second is finished.

Edit: Checked Words of Brandon and its currently steampunk and the third trilogy will be advanced society with space travel.... Wtf. Didn't know that.

Kinda of spoilerish but Harmony is trying push Scadrians to advance technologically. I believe he thinks they are further behind than other planets or something. I don't remember. Makes me wonder where Mistborn and Stormlight are chrinologically.

I just recently started the Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu. It's been okay so far, I think i'm almost done with The Dark Forest which is the 2nd book. I've been told that books 1 and 2 only exist to setup some mind blowing conclusion in book 3. I'm hoping that's true because book 2 has been a slog so far.

After that i'm debating whether or not I want to pick up the Magicians Trilogy or start Altered Carbon.

altered carbon is really fucking good; i just burned through all three of those.

i enjoyed the magicians but some people i recommended it to didn't care for it at all. the main character is such a twat for much of the story, it's hard to sympathize with him sometimes. i think the series is worth the read.

i haven't read it yet, but word round the campfire is that it's pretty good. people are pleased. i have tried to avoid spoilers but it seems like it's after the main eisenhorn trilogy but before the bequin series takes off.

I bought it, but I just finished the first 3 Gaunt's Ghosts books so I'll pick it up after I read a book or two of non-40k stuff.

I'm reading Hyperion. Surprised it's never come across my recommendations before. I thought I had read it years ago.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

One of my favorite series. Unique first book with how it's structured.

Bleh. I'm half way through the House of Chains and
    Spoiler: show
I remember hints have been dropped about Shadow Realm , empty throne, elder inhabitants etc but I cant recall everything. Normally for characters the wiki will have a breakdown by book spoilers but I can't find one for Shadow Realm. Kinda got hit with a maybe spoiler trying to look for it. I'm thinking about how Kellanvad and Dancer put together the Malazan take over and comparring it their accension and occupancy in High House Shadows throne. Those two are up to something and I wouldn't be surprised if Surly/Laseen wasn't in on it.

Damnit I feel like Paran/WhiskeyJack. I need Quick to show up and explain things

The books are so good. I should have gotten someone else to start reading them with me for he discussion. Everyone in my group are usually 4-5 books behind me. I might try Reddit or join in some rereads.

Just finished Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong (John Dies at the End author). Didn't like it at first but it grew on me and was a lot better than expected. Just the right mix of humor and absurd violence.

nope, but it's only $3 on kindle so if you recommend it I'll pick it up. I just have to get through City of Stairs first which is taking me awhile because the majority of my reading I do at work and I took a week long vacation this week.

    oh, damn. It's a 9-book series.

Yeah. I'm about 30-40% through the first one. It's pretty dense but I'm leaning towards liking it. The writing style is nice and they drop you into the world in a good way.

i've read a decent chunk of that series. definitely dense. once you get the hang of things, it really takes off.
