You might. I read fast, but I don’t actually dedicate a lot of time to reading. My brain works weird with books (I assume.) I don’t visualize when I read. I just soak up information like it’s on a checklist. Like if a character is described as having brown hair, blue eyes, round face, 6 feet tall. I hardly ever visualize that info. It’s info I just have.

My reading is also dictated by how much I work. I read on my breaks and downtime at work. At home, I basically just read if I’m in the bathroom or find some random downtime between taking care of my kid or some other random chore. Kindle App on my phone means I can read a page here or there whenever.

Also determines if I’m writing anything on my phone. I have to edit on my laptop/desktop at home, but first draft stuff I can crank out on my phone. Currently I’m taking a new-writing-break as I focus on my final draft of my current novel, giving me mental breaks on the off time.

And lastly, if there’s any good events going on in Yugioh Duel Links, because depending on that, I may play that instead of read.

    https://blog.patrickrothfuss.com/

Later this year, I’m publishing a new novella.
In a lot of ways, it’s going to be similar to The Slow Regard of Silent Things. It’s set in Temerant. It’s going to be illustrated by the fabulous Nate Taylor, and it centers on one of the secondary characters from the Kingkiller Chroniclers: Bast.
The Novella is called The Narrow Road Between Desires.
    November 14.

"Patrick Rothfuss returns to the wildly popular Kingkiller Chronicle Universe with a stunning reimagining of “The Lightning Tree.” Expanded to twice its previous length, and lavishly illustrated by Nathan Taylor, this touching stand-alone story is sure to please new readers and veteran Rothfuss fans alike."

they're good (especially the first), his prose is unusually elevated for the fantasy genre, but also became kind of wildly overrated. the way he depicts romantic and sexual relationships is painfully cringe, the protagonist's tale of losing his virginity reads like a 12 year old boy with an erection wrote it, and the structure of the second book is kind of a disaster as Rothfuss lost the plot and realized there was no conceivable way to tell the story he wanted to tell in a trilogy format as envisioned.

his deceptive charity fuckery was also kinda cunty but that's a whole other kettle of fish

Honestly, if not for the series title, and the frame/conceit of it being a story related after the fact, there would be no "cliffhanger" at all.

Most of the pissed just comes from wanting MORE.

Finished Reaper Man. The story of a group of wizards and an undead support group fighting a mall while Death becomes a farm hand after being laid off. I don’t have anything to add. Just wanted to write out the premise

Elven Star: just a little bit past where Haplo makes his first appearance in his flashback in the book.
I’m starting to get into this series. There’s some great worldbuilding opportunities with how the different races act and interact with each other in the different realms. I’m liking this story a whole lot more than I liked book 1, that’s for sure. All that forced mystery and Bane dragged that book down for me.

I do wish the “Villains” were less villainy in that they literally use the words “world domination” and just a slew of other negatively associated words with their goals. Like yeah, their race lived through hell for a long time, I just wish their goals weren’t just cartoon villainy. And I guess by “their,” I’m mostly referring to the Nexus Lord guy.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

That’s where I started. Read the first couple of the city watch books, read Small Gods, then the first Death book, then decided to read it all in publication order.

Welp. I knew there was something up with this wizard. 30% in. In the middle of chapter 11:
    Spoiler: show
Had the feeling the old wizard was just putting on an act since the beginning. I even think the dragon’s in on it. And now he drops a 4th wall break by referencing The Lord of the Rings.

DUDE You already caught up to me. I'm maybe 5% ahead of you.

    Spoiler: show
I've loved the multiple wizard fireball references as a wizard is one of the few classes I've played in D&D. And yeah he followed it up with the lotr reference, that was amazing lol. My googling says there was also a Dragonlance reference in there in the same place as lotr but I haven't read that.

I will say though, it did take until the wizard and dragon's arrival for me to get into this book. I don't care that much for the elven family, especially since they're all protagonist slave owners.

And who know Haplo would be a missed character from before. I really miss Hugh lol

    I caught the Raistlin name drop from Dragonlance, and I thought Zifnab sounded familiar, but it has been a very long time since I read Dragonlance apparently. I spent a minute trying to see if his name was an anagram of someone else, since that seemed to be that kind of character, and I was right, though I thought I wasn’t at the time;
Just a little bit from wiki about Zifnab

    Spoiler: show
The character Zifnab is similar to the character Fizban from Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance novels. Zifnab makes a few references to Fizban during the series (when he's asked for his name he said "Fiz..., no can't use that one", or such as the importance of a Wizard's Hat) and he is described with a similar appearance. He makes references to the Pern series of books, The Lord of the Rings, Dragonlance, Star Wars, Star Trek, James Bond, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Arthurian legend, the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, and soul music; within the context of the books, these are historic references to the former Earth. The character type appears again in a similar capacity in the Starshield novels, where the parallel character is known as Zanfib.

Are Zifnab and Fizban the same person? The simplest (and legal) answer, in Hickman's own words, is always: "The answer is that Fizban is a crazed wizard owned by TSR under copyright, while Zifnab is a completely different crazed wizard owned by Margaret and I. Incidentally, neither Fizban nor Zifnab have any relationship whatsoever to Zanfib—a crazed wizard from our Starshield series. I hope I have cleared this up once and for all."[7]
it started going into the In-story background of the character after that, so I stopped reading the wiki there.

Death Gate Cycle. 7 books. It's by the authors of the first bunch of Dragonlance books, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

There's clearly Dragonlance references in there but they went over my head as I never read them

tbh they're the only names I associate with Dragonlance so I just assumed it had to be them lol. My memory is hella vague bc, again, high school and im old now but I read most if not all at the time.
