I like the size of the kindle vs the phone screen for reading.

Not to mention anytime I read on my phone I get distracted by all sorts of notifications. Dedicated reader is where its at

I'm in the middle of a Stormlight reread anyway. I meant to do the books in between other stuff throughout the year leading up to book 5, but I got hooked right back in and I am going for all 4 (6) asap lol

So my first foray into the LitRPG genre. This is pretty pulp. It's not meant to have any deep themes. This series is p much Running Man ran by aliens. Still on the "tutorial" chapters of book 1.

Finished book 1 of Dungeon Crawler Carl. It's pulp. It's crude and silly. It's Duke Nukem + Running Man the Movie thrown into a video game blender. Yes there's pop culture references but it makes sense why they're shoehorned in.

It isn't for everyone. If you take it seriously, then you missed the entire point. Read it for pure entertainment. I'll continue with book 2 since I got plenty of good laughs.

i'm about 4 books in, it stays as ridiculous and adds some. definitely not fine literature or anything even resembling that.. but it's a fun read/listen.

There's also He Who Fights With Monsters by Travis Deverell.
It dips a bit to angsty, but it hangs a lampshade on it all. The banter is great, but some find it insufferable.

Finished one and am 20% through 2. These are PERFECT in-between books. I love it. They're fun, silly, and will definitely hit a lot of nostalgia+reference points for people without being Ready Player One.

Broken Earth trilogy finished.

Damn good read. The ending felt a bit rushed, but that's my only complaint.

I finished the existing books and they're all super fun. One book is a little draggy because of a gameplay thing that I'm not a huge fan of but its really fun.

I decided to try more in the LitRPG genre and am reading Ascend Online by Luke Chmilenko. The first one was pretty compelling and it's a cohesive narrative but it's far less comedic and dungeon crawler-y than Carl was. Much more serious and in-gamey in tone but it's keeping me interested. Not sure if 3 is the end of the series but I started it yesterday and it's 40% longer than the other two main story books.

I also read the other duo by Matt Dinniman, Dominion of Blades and you can see the origins of his writing style and even a few characters coming to the fore. It's enjoyable.

I picked up The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan but haven't opened it yet. Got recommended on Amazon and was free so I'll give it a spin.

I've read the Ascend online books. There's actually 4, not 3. Book 2 is a side story about what's going on in the city during the events of book 1.
The 4th book is not the end, the author has just been working on other projects the past few years. The 5th book actually comes out May 7th.

nice, yeah i read 1, 1.5 (although after book 2 because Amazon has them in the wrong order), 2, and 3.
