Spoiler: show
think i'll hop to a classic or two before doing any more genre atm. maybe The Odyssey and/or The Count of Monte Cristo.
As if the Odyssey isn't fantasy![]()
Nobody said it wasn't.

AG implied it!
Out on the water on the ship of Theseus, she’s not going to say no. Because of the implication.
no all that stuff happened
A little more than halfway through. Nothing like what I was expecting, but it is good. I do wish the flash forward at the beginning was dropped, though I feel that was either put in because the author didn’t trust his readers to keep reading without it or it was a concession he had to make to his editors/publishers for the same reason.
Finished it. Overall good, but I do prefer his more overtly fantastical books. Ending was a bit telegraphed from quite awhile away.
if anyone knows somewhere I could find some digital versions of the Ork books from 40k could you shoot me a message? place I get most stuff doesn't have any of them, mostly just Horus Heresy stuff, which I will possibly get around to at some point but I want to ease into it a bit and Ork stuff seems more fun of an entry point
IPT has a really thorough pack with 100s of w40k books in it and I've had really good luck requesting missing ones. I got an invite from here like a decade ago and would share it back if you want go into the borrowing permanently route.

That's my usual place, lol. I'll have to try to manually go through them a little better, when I looked there I saw a lot of the codexes for the game and the aforementioned Horus Heresy stuff but looking up, for example, just Warboss or Mike Brooks wasn't turning up what I was looking for on a quick skim. a lot of the big collections are also like 10+ years old and the Ork stuff seems more recent. Never requested anything on there though so if I don't find it I'll look into that process.
edit: nvm
I just drop the info box from Amazon that has the isbn# and all that other stuff in the request and 100pts and it usually shows up in a day or 2.
Been off my military shlock kick for a bit but will hop back on with the scouring series and will request those as they release. Just hoping they leave Dan alone long enough to release the final Beq book...the universe feels ready for another step forward with 11th ed this year.

Just finished the final Robert Jordan WoT book. At least he got the plot going again before he passed away
Time for the sanderlanches
random question, Malazan is on my 'get around to reading eventually' list but I noticed he has a trilogy of sci-fi books that, going off the names at least, give me a kind of Redshirts vibe, is that accurate? and are the worth reading? i was raised by huge trekkies (and have posted a picture of me as a kid doing in a Spock cosutme lol) so I enjoyed Redshirts
huge news to my Sando bros, adaptions finally happening. maybe i'll finally give one of his books a shot...

Apple has a pretty good track record right? And don't cancel shit early like Netflix??
Hoping for the best
This sounds goodThe deal is rare one, coming after a competitive situation which saw Sanderson meet with most of the studio heads in town. It gives the author rarefied control over the screen translations, according to sources. Sanderson will be the architect of the universe, will write, produce and consult, and have approvals
The only worry is if he gets so caught up in Hollywood that Stormlight Archive doesn't finish until 2050 now.
