    The Great Hunt has ended!
Dragon's being Reborn all up in here now.

    first two books were great and I'm loving the series thus far, but I have to ask. Is most of the Wheel of Time series so predictable? I've guessed right most everything so far to the point of I can't even tell if something is supposed to be a surprise or if something is only supposed to be known by the reader. For example from book 2;
    Spoiler: show
Selene being Lanfear. I assumed she was Lanfear right after she was rescued from the Grolms.

I'm barely a book ahead of you. I'm grabbing the next 3 pack (4-6) this coming week.

There were some lame stretches in the Hunt but Dragon Reborn is a GREAT book.

Also read some summer thriller, it was awful.

So much Wheel of Time posts... I slogged through half of it on recommendations, but couldn't stand it, really.

Wrapped up the Malazan Book of the Fallen series recently.... wow was that a long haul. Ten books and almost 11,000 pages. Sooo good though. Try tackling them if you think you might like something like Song of Ice and Fire crossed with The Black Company, on a bigger scale than both of them.

Love this series and it only gets better with every subsequent read through. My only gripe with it is the author like to go entire books without mentioning key characters from the previous novels. Also find myself laughing a lot while reading the chapters focused on characters like Kruppe and Sergeant Hellian.

Yeah, I read it over about a year, sometimes with a couple other unrelated books inbetween... so occassionally I lost track of people. Kruppe was my favorite character, but I can't say "easily" because there were a lot of great characters. I can definitely tell that you'd probably get even more out of it each read through... one day I'd like to tackle that... but not yet!

I'm reading random things on my Kindle now. Finished The Chrysalids the other day... and in doing so, figured out why it was never on my middleschool reading list. It didn't exactly have a Catholic-school-institution friendly sort of message.

I feel like since the book is heavy on prophecy that Jordan is practically throwing you bones as to what is going to happen - some of them are easy to figure out, and some you won't realize until four books later.
    Spoiler: show
The Lanfear story arch was started with a prophecy in the beginning of the Great Hunt and wraps up in the end, but all along the way Jordan was trying to guide you to the secret.

Just finished Prelude to Foundation, and am enthralled by Asimov's universe. I loved the movie I, Robot because of the concept of the three laws- and their inherent flaw. Once I wrap up the Foundation end of the series, I'll definitely be going back and picking up the earlier segments.

    On to The Shadow Rising!
Still having the problem of everything being too predictable though.

The dialogue between Bugg and Tehol is seriously the most hilarious written dialogue I have ever read. Toss in Ublala and that sack of chickens on the floor, and I was rolling. I enjoyed the MBotF a lot and thought the ending was great, something that is difficult to achieve for a series as massive as this, but Erikson uses so much introspection and philosophical debate that it really started to wear on me. Wheel of Time was a refreshing follow-up as it's a little more straight forward adventure / fantasy novel.

I am 3/4 books into the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. First book was solid, but it's not amazing.

I also read the First Law Trilogy a few weeks back which was really f-ing awesome, but the ending was so unbelievably frustrating.

Just finished Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. Not really sold on Sedaris yet.

Next up, Catching Fire and House of Leaves.

I'm about 1/3rd of the way through 1Q84 and loving it. Utterly fantastic novel, and a great translation to boot. Highly recommend it if you're into surreal stuff.

Shadow Rising was a great entry in the series, Fires of Heaven is really good too. I'm on Knife of Dreams myself, want to get it finished along with the two after it before A Memory of Light comes out. The ending of Winters Heart is one of my favs.

15% through TWoT Lord of Chaos and blaaarg it's boring. Maybe I'm just getting a little burned out reading this one series of books one after another, or maybe it's a downside to Jordan making the last 30% or So of his books so crazy.

Brandon Sanderson posted on twitter today that he has submitted the final draft for the last Wheel of Time book.

I'm currently limping through book 10, Jordan really did get bogged down with so many details/events/names before he passed away. I'm looking forward to getting to Sanderson's books. I've heard he got things back on track pretty quickly.
