I actually enjoyed Kingkiller more than asoiaf tbh.

Atm I'm reading Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

Starting book three of the Codex Alera, already 100ish pages in. I hear this is where it picks up so I'm excited to see where this goes.

The Doors of Stone have no official release date, it'll probably come out in late 2013, or much more likely spring-summer 2014.

I don't believe there any official translations of the Witcher books, as they are Polish. There might be some fan translatios, but I never looked.

I enjoyed the Dragon Age books. From what I remember, they basically just add backstory to Origins, so if you liked that you'll probably like the books. They're not the best books ever or anything, but they're fun and easy reads.

I just finished The Name of the Wind today and I would say its one of the most overrated books I have ever read. Going to read the second book anyways, will check back in a couple of days.

i really enjoyed the complexity in Name of the Wind, but it really leaves you hanging at a seemingly random point in the story. wise mans fear will be my next buy. i read all the shannarra books when i was still getting into fantasy in general. in hindsight they weren't all that, but up till then i had only really read R.A. Salvator and his books were fairly predictable and ... almost childish in that young adult sort of way. i don't mind an easy read now and then but he wrote series after series of the stuff.

idk if theres any L. E. Modessitt fans here, but i've really enjoyed his books, many of them more than once. a lot of his early sci fi stuff was a little mediocre, but Hammer of Darkness and Timegods World are both sci-fi/fantasy hybrids (more sci-fi leaning) that were amazing books, i reread these both periodically. theres something like 20 books in his Recluse Saga, which is one of those series that jumps back and forth on a 2 thousand year time line. His Imager series is his most recent, different but very good.

as far as the painted/warded man (demon cycle series), the concept was 10/10 awesome, but i feels he's a relatively poor/unskilled writer. i heard its going to be made into a movie, which will probably be way better than the book since it will bypass his lackluster writing style. that being said, i'm still buying the daylight war as soon as the price comes down a little, the last 15% of the Desert Spear was too good to not follow up with the rest of the story.

Finally finished The Wise Man's Fear. It was a struggle to read through such shit, but I was so far in I felt too committed to not finish. Rothfuss is definitely a talented writer and both both books have their moments, but the bad far outweighs the good.
