About halfway through The Twelve, so far I prefer The Passage.

The Passage gets good earlier, but in direct comparison The Twelve is by far superior. Hang in there!

I started the Black Company books. I've read the first two, and honestly, I gotta say, I'm a little surprised at the raving reviews and recommendations these books get. The second was better than the first, but the writing is tough. I almost gave up on the first book, all these little short, choppy sentences and zero character development really bugged me.

Taking a break after book 2 to read Micro by Michael Crichton.

Taking a break at the moment from Dresden Files. Finished Blood Rites a while back and wanted to read a few other things.

Started reading Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card. Got interested in it after seeing the movie preview.

It's based off the book by Joseph Delaney, The Spook's Apprentice, not OSCs Alvin Journeyman series.

Ah, that would make sense why the settings seemed so different. They both had the "Seventh son of a Seventh son" thing going on so I didn't want to read too much more about it cause I didn't want to spoil anything.

Question about The Spook's Apprentice: Is it finished? I see that a few books are out, but I don't think I saw that the series was completed.

Is OSC's series still worth continuing? I've only read five chapters so far and it seems kind of interesting.

The Spook series is still being written; Wiki says there are 11 books out and 2 more in the works. The Alvin Journeyman series I couldn't really tell you, as I read the first book like 15 years ago and never bothered with any books after it. The setting (alternate American history, if I had to put one down I guess) just didn't appeal to me, but ymmv.

Kindle Matchbook will be starting up in October. Starting off with about 10,000 titles, if you had purchased the physical book from Amazon the ebook will be available at a discounted price, ranging from free to $2.99. Hopefully it will do well and publishers will start allowing more books to be added to the list.

Finally started the Horus Heresy (Warhammer 40k) series. Just finished book 1, picking 2nd up today. Pretty damn good but weird seeing Horus as a champion of good.

Finally on the Crippled God, it's been a long ride but I've thoroughly enjoyed this series. I did an alternate reading order which fit in the crimson guard stuff into the time line, felt satisfying and filled some gaps.

Was trying to finish all of WoT over the summer, got to Winter's Heart, and FFXIV hit. I don't think I'm gonna finish the series before school starts

Doesn't stop me from buying books though. Still need to pick up the last WoT books. Current to-read list, of books I think I'm actually going to read, and not just "oh someday I'll get around to that book"

I read the abhorsen trilogy... it was OK.. sorta harry potterish but with undead.. writing wasn't as strong as I like it. Good characters though.

Just started the night angel trilogy. Already loving it

Just finished reading The Shining for the first time since the movie is a lot different than the book and the sequel to the book is coming out (this month?)
But I only just now read what the plot is going to be about and I suddenly don't think I even want to read Dr. Sleep now...

The novel features the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the twelve-year-old girl, Abra Stone, that he must save from The True Knot. The True Knot are a group of almost immortal travelers who cross the country feeding on children with the gift of "the shining." Dan drifted for decades in an attempt to escape his father's legacy, but eventually settled in a New Hampshire town and works in a nursing home, where his remnant mental abilities provide comfort to the dying. With the aid of a cat that can foresee the future, Dan becomes "Doctor Sleep." After meeting Abra Stone, an epic war between good and evil ensues.

Man, Elantris sure did leave a whole lot of stuff open-ended.
I'd be a bit more disappointed if I didn't know he plans on doing two more follow up books "sometime."
Time for Warbreaker then... idk.
Is the 6th Prince of Nothing book out yet? I stopped after book three cause I wanted to read the second trilogy all in a row.
