Looking for a Series that deals with life aboard a giant ship. Sorta like SGU and the Culture novels.

ummm.... the Foreigner universe kinda has that in a couple of the factions. There's ship humans, station humans, colony humans, and a couple alien species. But most of the story has to do with one of the alien species. otherwise i dont recall reading anything like that. post whatever you find, if someone else doesn't, because that sounds interesting.

Brandon Sanderson's been writing blog posts about finishing the Wheel of Time
    http://brandonsanderson.com/tag/the-...retrospective/

Mat was going to have another series all his own after the main group of books, and some of his character progress was saved for those. (Note that those books are not going to be written.)

Okay, after a month long break of no reading, think I'm gonna get started up again.

Ender's Shadow > Mistborn; Alloy of Law > Doctor Sleep.
I'd also check out that Fungi book if I could find it on a torrent site, but I can't seem to find it. (I buy physical copies of books I like even after reading them on kindle, I just don't know if I'd like it enough to buy it...)

So I've got a current interest I want to look into, (which Fungi probably fits into) and in literature terms that would be 'man vs nature' type books. But not regular nature like people trapped in an icy mountain after a plane crash. More like fantasy or sci-fi species or environments (but not limited to those genres), like the game The Last of Us or the Ridley Scott's movie Alien. Maybe even Dune.
    Any suggestions?

Dune is really good, if you h aven't read it yet. if you're going the sci-fi route, try the first 3 dragonriders of pern. i'm not really a mcaffery fan but those first 3 books are really good.

20% through Doctor Sleep. Aside from all the child abuse they just piled on in the beginning, i'm enjoying it.
I think I may have guessed a part of the ending though. don't tell me if I'm wrong or not.
    Spoiler: show
I have a feeling Dan will defeat the True Knot people by freeing the Overlook Hotel ghosts from his mental lockbox and having them attack them.

man oh man was the second half of Doctor Sleep not much of a Thriller or Horror. Felt more like a Fantasy novel.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just definitely wasn't the tone I was expecting the latter half to take.

I thought the final showdown was extremely anticlimactic and pretty telegraphed. Otherwise I actually enjoyed the book.

Last book in the Thomas Covenant Chronicles is out (has been since 10/15 apparently) Picked it up last night. Unlike Donaldson's normal M.O., the last book is only 700 pages. I'm 200 pages in and it is moving very quickly. Lots happening.

My sister recently turned 14 and she likes to read a lot, burning through books like hunger games and harry potter and (ugh)Twilight (which she loves), and so I decided to give her something bigger to read and since she loves Twilight so much, I decided to start with a barely similar yet sort of similar and so much better story, Mistborn.
She ended up finishing the book in a little over a month and is now about 3/4 through book 2.

I'm wondering what books I should get her to try after she finishes the trilogy. I don't really want to give her anything harder to read than those books though because she may be straining her limits and anything more complicated/crazy like game of thrones or just absurdly long like Wheel of Time series may be pushing it. I kind of just want to default to 'more Sanderson books,' but I'm looking for a little more diversity.

Not worried about violence or language content and sexuality as long as it's not like 'look at my big hard cock i'm about to rape you with yo!'

I was thinking Ender's Game. Though even I haven't read the any of the other books in that series.
And she's always bugging me about the "jim butcher books" because she wants to read them because she "likes the colors" on the spine. I told her no for awhile because of the sexual content in them can be explicit occasionally, (the first book having an orgy and people having their rib cages ripped open while having sex seemed a bit much) but I'm wondering if I'm only remembering it being worse than it was since it's been awhile.

a little aside; when she finished Mistborn #1 she spent quite a few weeks bummed about (book#1 and end of book#3 spoiler... if there's still people on this thread who haven't read mistborn yet)
    Spoiler: show
Kelsier's death. I just want her to hurry up and finish books 2 and 3 so I can see what her reaction's gonna be to Elend and Vin's deaths.
