anyone have any Vonnegut recommendations? this was the first thing i read by him. probably going to look at Mother Night next
i tried reading that and catch 22 when i was in high school. hated them and didnt finish. im planning to try again soon, now that i'm older and wiser.
one i DID enjoy, and fits in a similar category, I think, is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
I gave up on catch 22 when I was in high school also, but read it a couple years ago and loved it so maybe you could try again. Already read cuckoos nest too
Reading The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. Didn't think I would enjoy it, but it's been great thus far. Reads like a more PG version of the Gentlemen Bastard sequence crossed with Riyria Chronicles or another more altruistic fantasy yarn.
Timed my reread of ASOIAF perfectly with the premiere tomorrow. Really pumped for it. I just finished book 5 again last night.
All of Vonnegut's novels are worth the read. My personal favorites are: Breakfast of Champions, and Cat's Cradle. Also really enjoyed Galapogos despite reading it for HS summer reading lol. Sirens of Titan is really good too, a bit more sci-fi than his later stuff.
Oh! Also Bluebeard!
Since my last post...
Finished Divergent Trilogy. First book was pretty good. 2nd book was ok. 3rd just got stupid and I guess I was ok with the way it ended. But ugh I trudged through the 3rd one swiftly just to be a completionist. Hated the movie. Too watered down and should have been more violent.
Also got 2 more books through Dresden (waiting a bit to buy books 4-6) and Elantris. I enjoyed the pacing of the first 2/3rds of the Elantris and its characters. Kinda flew off the rails as it tried to tie up everything really fast that it got a bit ridiculous, but still a nice read. Fit in Ender's Game into all this as well. Probably not going to read any further in the series on the recommendation of my friends.
Now in queue: Words of Radiance, In the Name of the Wind, Warbreaker, The Wise Man's Fear, then Dresden 4-6.
so i re-read the most recent Foreigner novel because a new one comes out next week. mis-timed it and finished it this morning, still have 7 days till the next one.
now i just have to read magazines while i poop![]()
Absolutely flew through Steelheart (first book in The Recokners Trilogy) by Brandon Sanderson. Loved it!
Might want to pick up the Mitosis short story that follows it.
Cool, I'll get it today. Thanks
Finished Warbreaker. I should have taken my friend's advice and read that before Words of Radiance. Though it made for a good "oh snap" moment when I connected the dots between the two.
I guess future advice for people reading Stormlight Archive series: read his other books since most of them are in the same literary universe but different worlds (except for Rithmatist and Reckoners so far)
I don't think this is spoilery at all but if you haven't read Way of Kings there's some stuff in here -
