    Borderlands Install Issue

    The other day I installed Borderlands, and though I should have just let it be, I have to mess things up. The 'install' was quick, but afterwards there was an 'extraction' that popped up that took maybe 10-15 minutes, and closed when it was done. However, the problem I ran into was I couldnt FOR THE LIFE OF ME find its install path, and windows search was being a jerk and couldn't find it, and google was pulling no results- it was hugely frustrating to have such a minor problem stopping me.

    So I uninstalled!

    The idea was that, upon reinstalling, I could pay attention to where the damned thing was actually installing. I tried to reinstall, but what happens now is that the quick 'install' will finish, and InstallShield keeps a little instance open (clickable at the bottom of the screen) but nothing actually happens. The computer lags like junk when this is open (so I can't really do much while waiting for it) but nothing ever appears or finishes- even when leaving it for an hour or two. I've tried reinstalling/uninstalling multiple times, I've deleted my entire temp folder, but I can not get the stupid extraction thing to finish; and if I try to play the game, it just errors out on me.

    Anyone have some ideas? I imagine finding a way to completely uninstall (remove from registry and all?) may fix it, but I'm not quite sure. I'm on vista64 bit; someone halp, haven't been able to play it at all yet Thanks in advance.

    I figured, but the first time, a window popped up so I could see the progress, and it took maybe 5-10 minutes max. I've left my computer at this phase for... 2 hours? The times after... and it still sits there and does nothing. I can't imagine its going to take longer than that.

    I deleted all my temp files, the entire installed folder, and cleared out registry of anything 2k games / Borderlands, and this continues to happen.. wtf?

    DL'd It worked first time, like I said, took the 10 minutes or whatever, which I understand. Now, after the initial brief install, it just sits with an instance open, but no window open or anything indefinitely.

    I have the Reloaded version ; ;

    Edit: What do you mean about nfo file? I opened it and it only had two lines:

    [autorun]
    open=Borderlands.exe
    icon=autorun.ico

    Kinda not wanting to DL a brand new version, meh.

    Honestly, no one should pay for this game until they get their act together. So many bugs, corrupt saves, the ability to dupe items (which goes along with having 2 people play the same save file), honestly the list goes on forever. I love the game, but so many issues just defeats it being worth anywhere near what they are asking. Also I purchased the game on ps3, I still feel if I'd DL it on PC till they fixed it.

    Gonna try DLing a different version, but I feel like I'm not completely uninstalling it, and missing something, as it worked fine the first time but I was retarded and instead of asking my friend where it installed, I uninstalled it and failed to ever reinstall it completely. Sigh.

    I registered soley to post solution - I found if you go ctrl-alt-del and close the 7zip.exe process it restarts and starts unpacking.

    F@!king yay.

    that just forces the borderlands process closed for me as well, rather than restarting the unpacking process
